The value I'd see is the opportunity to practice those "fundamentals" at a really nice facility with friends.

This is absolutely a vacation for me. Problem is what I call a vacation "the others" in my world call it a sickness. They're the sick one in my opinion. Sitting around waiting for nothing to happen is not what I call fun.

I have a few question about the camp. What's the average age of the paid group and where there any families with younger kids there to learn. Is it something you would want to bring a child too. Last one, was it very competitive?

    Re: Texas Tornado Bootcamp

Good questions. The average age was pretty high maybe 40?, but the spread was big. From 9 to 72. They accommodated everyone at their own level. And the "old guy" RIPPED. I went with a lot of my racing buds, and a group of flat track racers, so competition was built in. They created racing opportunities because we were racers. But they do use competitions as a motivator even just doing drills. It was really "friendly" competition and I thought it added a lot of value to the experience. Gave a purpose to drills that might otherwise seem a bit basic. Superpole each day is competitive, but more in that we put pressure on ourselves. It was also fundamental to the success of the camp IMO.

That was a good aspect, but the value was MUCH greater than that. Even a random camp without friends would be money well spent. Though I feel lucky to have gone with 10 people I really enjoy hangin and riding with.

You see the 7 day in early February?

I can't imagine doing 7 days of that. Legs/hips would be JUNK. But oh so fun. Same price as the 4 day ones too.....

Yep. The 7 day racer camp is on our radar. NOT for someone who hasn't been training. A few of us were ready for more after 4 days, but most people were smoked.

7 or even 6 nights in those beds wouldn't be fun for me. The riding I could train for and pace myself through though.

Definitely worth the money to do this though, for any of you that are on the fence.

Well I stopped carrying around close to an extra 25lbs everywhere I went, does that count for anything?

I prob can't afford it anyway... At least not right now. Hopefully I'll know more about that in a few weeks.

    Re: Texas Tornado Bootcamp

Simple... I stopped eating like a fuckin fat kid.

Seriously, I was just eating too much. And in all honestly, I think a LOT of us do, often without even realizing it.

One day I just told myself "Pete... it's OKAAAAAAY to be hungry for more than 5 minutes!!!" So now, I reasonably watch what I eat and don't really eat much more than I have to. I was up to 180 or so and when I started this and over the course of a couple years my body went back to a more natural equilibrium which is about 155-160lbs. Yes, I'm a skinny fuck. And if I were actually in good shape I'd be another 10-12lbs lighter.

The back seat of my truck is sadly more comfortable to me than the bunk bed I slept in at the boot camp. Regardless of that I will definitely attend again when/if the opportunity presents itself.
