    thinking of selling my SV

nekid red '99 it's a complete bike but in pieces, motor is out and taken apart, extra set of wheels, extra fork and controls from an S, tank has no dings but does have rubbed off paint. shock is original with 135k

I'd like to just get rid of everything rather than part it out and I don't really want to ship anything

I don't have a clue what $$$ to ask for the whole package or individual parts, but right now, its a project that is unlikely to happen

Might also be interested. How torn down is it? Do I see the motor on the workbench without jugs?

100% dealer serviced, when I took bike in for routine 135k (9x15k interval) service, it was starting to use oil on a somewhat regular basis, smoking on startup & high rpm revs & decels

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dycrfqUCU-4

keep in mind it has been sitting in boxes sheltered from moisture, but not cold for 7 + years

dealer did compression & leakdown, then tore down to give me estimate, valve guides worn well beyond tolerance, cam chains as well

crank/bottom end was tight rebuild back then would have been new valves/guides/seals & machine work for head to replace those parts, new cam chains, new oil pump, yes, jugs and cylinders are removed from block at the time they were still in great shape to return to service, compression was 210 both cylinders with an intermittent low compression 90 psi in rear due to extremely loose valve guide on one of the exhaust valves that would closed tightly sometimes and sometimes not during compression test

estimate was way more than 7 year old bike with 135k was worth, it was also just a few buck shy of what they were willing to sell me a new V-strom 1000 for, no brainer, I rode home on V-strom , they packed my SV up and delivered that un-reassembled

Originally I had plans of turning it into a bobtail motard, either find a used motor or rebuild with overbore pistons 677cc? tune for low and midrange,

I have extra set of wheels w brake rotors, cushdrive & sprockets, most parts have been replaced, linkages, lever perches etc. a few times, so I also have old sloppy bits as spares

the one thing that is really worn out is the original 135k stock SV rear shock, seat vinyl is worn on edges, rash on tail is from saddlebags

it is a good start for someone that wants to build a racebike and have spares, motor is out, frame is awaiting a Penske

So I'd say you can get $1000 on a good day for it? If that?
That's the point of the thread right? Get an estimate? I'd say you can find some one on CL who would throw a stack for it

Out. Too much work. Would take frame & title if parting out.

Re: thinking of selling my SV

Drop a stock motor and a used Penske in there.
I'd say 700-1000 depending how froggy your buyer is for the package.
