    throttle mod?

So how much bang for the buck do you get
    with a throttle mod?

I see that HRC sells a 1/6 quick turn throttle for $120.
Does it make alot of difference?
Is it a wise mod for a bike that is mainly street ridden?

    throttle mod?

If you go to a 1/6 turn throttle, you will lose precision in your throttle. It will be harder for you to find and maintain a particular throttle setting. On the other hand, you will not have to turn the throttle as far to get to WOT. Some people may like the shorter throw while others will not. It is all a personal preference and makes little difference on the street.

If I were you, I would save my money.

How often to you crank it to WOT? How quickly do you normally go WOT?

For a street bike... I probably wouldn't go it... unless the bike is highly underpowered and I'm riding at WOT all the time.

    throttle mod?

I'll let you know how my CRF does with it on the track. There are only 2 setings on the throttle on a 450 on the track closed or WFO!!

Wouldn't catch me doing it to a streetbike. No need for it on the street, unless ya just wanna say you have it...

So what about the 1/4 turn throttle on my race Hawk?

    Should I or shouldn't I?

I'd think its a better mod than that.

    throttle mod?

1/6 is rather quick. I had a 1/5 turn throttle on my TLR. I liked it for the track because I could get the whole throw of the throttle without changing grip of my hand on the throttle.

Umm... Akira, a throttle conversion should be something like 25 bucks. Not $120. Its only a plastic insert that goes on your throttle grip tube. It makes the throttle tube a larger diameter so it takes fewer degrees to move the cable. That's it.

I know a guy that makes them.

    throttle mod?

I'm pretty decided against it now.
The only place its really an issue for me is outta T12 on to the straight and that's enough time to re-adjust my hand. I'm not yet at WOT in other parts of the track.

Plus it looks like its alot of work to redo the kill switch wiring and starter switch.

But it seems it would be nice to get right into the meat of the powerband that much faster, even its just to pass cages at a stop light. On a 600 its more critical then on say your TLR.
But its not worth it if I am going to lose a bit of variability in the rest of the range.

BTW the HRC kit is a whole new throttle with cables and electric switches.

oem R6 throttle is 1/5 turn and fits many applications for around $25

    throttle mod?

Haha, Changing the throw of the throttle any significant amount is tricky, generally requiring trial and error to get a cable that will function properly. I've done it to every bike I own.

You actually get MORE control with a shorter throw, or I should say more precise control. On a torquey bike it can be more of a bother on the street as each hand movement makes the bike move more. on the F4i I think it would be a plus both on the track and the street.

One thing I've noted about Honda is that the sincerley CHEAP out on their throttle assemblies. They are flimsy and feel like mush and get worse with use. Their CR dirtbikes being the exception.

Replacing the stocker with an aluminum body peice that has a bearing mounted guide wheel is a great mod even if it's not quick turn. Redracing has some nice ones...

    throttle mod?

Think aboout this. You twist the throttle more than you use any other control on the bike. It's one of the more important connections you have to the machine. if it is sloppy and sluggish, then no matter how great your 10k$ bike is, it will always feel kind of cheap. Why would anyone want a 5$(manufacturers cost) throttle??? I would spend 120 if it looked like it cost at least 50 to produce. The Honda dirt bike throttles are close to 100 buck retail and offer a massive improvement i feel over the stock streetbike parts.

IMO that mechanism should feel like a swiss watch! I'm not sure if the HRC unit is that good, but there are other options out there.

i've considered doing that to my SV for awhile now. For me its such a frustrating issue because for me to WOT i have to reposition my hand on the grip on the SV. On other sportbikes i haven't run into that problem as much.
