I don't think there is 1 thing legitimate about the traffic laws and especially the speed limits. But play the game

Cops are a sub species of human being and as such have emotions and preconceived attitudes and such.

When the police stop me I 1st do exactly what they say and move in a slow direct manner. The LEO doesn't know that you are not dangerous at 1st.

nope. im relax. i do the same as anyone. just ask around. lips are seal until spoken to and stay exactly where im told. i did strike a friendly conversation with the cop from last ticket but i don't know why his buddy wrote me up because somebody call them to report the passing.

I can't argue the point that officers may treat him differently, but why is it that he has so much contact with them? I've done quite a few miles on my bike, many of them over the speed limit, but with a little common sense and discretion, have rarely been pulled over. And that is the point that Kham, and now you, miss.

If you read the first post, you'll see that kham called the cop a cocksucker. And this isn't the first time. Every run in with the cops, or every post in which a cop is mentioned, kham takes the opportunity to disparage them.

Yes, we're an open forum. All posts are accepted, and we don't ban trolls. Why? Because it's a slippery slope, what might consitute a troll to you might be a welcome opinion to someone else. Rather than draw an arbitrary line in the sand, the site owners and moderators have decided to let the inmates run the asylum. People may post as they please, but post something that is stupid and you open yourself up to the ire of the masses.

Most of us here respect cops. Some of our longtime members are cops. Some of us know cops, as family or friends. Yes, some of us break various laws from time to time. We might even think certain laws are without merit. But it's not the cops' fault, they are people just like you and I and they do what they do because they believe that what they do make a difference. I respect that, I wouldn't want to live in a world without police and I can count many times in which the police have been there for me when I needed them.

Am I saying that I agree with every law out there? No. Am I saying that I think cops deserve some respect and consideration for doing what they do? Absolutely. It's a dangerous, poorly paying, and mostly thankless job, and I respect those who choose to do it. And for those like kham who don't, well, they're free to voice their opinions but you should understand that those of us who disagree are going to voice ours.

It's kinda like the military. I'm a pretty outspoken critic against the war in iraq. I think the reasons for going in there are flawed, I think those who supported the wars played untruthfully on peoples' fear of terrorism, and I think the war has caused more harm than good to this world.

But am I going to call those who serve in the military cocksuckers? Berate them for somehow supporting what I feel to be an unjust war? No, of course not. We have a number of members here who are in the military. And though I might not agree with the roles they've been asked to play, I respect their commitment to what they believe in and their willingness to put their lives on the line for what they believe is right.

It's the same thing with cops. They are putting their lives on the line (one of the most dangerous civilian jobs out there is that of the traffic cop) for what they believe is right. Even if I don't agree with every law they're upholding (and I'm pretty sure some of them don't agree with all of them either), they believe enough in what they do to devote their lives to it, and I can't stand to see that disrespected.

Actually, truthfully, I think the reason Kham has so much "contact" is the fact the guy rides his ASS off! Seriously. I'm not sure exactly how many miles Kham rides per year, but I tell you, when I lived near him, I swear he'd ride every day in addition to the long ass rides he attended.

heh, just remember, he with the biggest guns ultimately defines morality (think Israel/Palestine). If I recall correctly, you are exposed to the law in some manner, you should have a really good persective on this. If you call that the motto of a criminal, well, the world is sure as heck full of 'em. Although, also, if you're exposed to the law, you know then there's nothing wrong with fighting any ticket, it's simply a "details" pissing match. If someone accuses you of something, it's your right (hell, I would use the word "Duty") to question them on it, and who's fault is it if you find a detail that's been missed, and bring it to light? So what, it's your "moral responsibility" to help the cop do his/her job because "you did the crime, you do the time????"

I've never had a problem paying any ticket, nor have I ever lied. But if you're going to acuse me of something, you better back it up with air-tight facts, if you don't, that's your burden, not mine, I need not suffer for your sloth and may the best Squid win.

He was a piece of work, so much, that the white haired older cop who later pulled up had to take him in his car and make him calm down... lol

I have to say though, in terms of a-hole cops, most I've been pulled over by have been pretty good. I'd say about 75% of the cops were decent, 30% red-faced, power tripping a-holes who somehow believe being angry and aggressive make for a safer traffic stop...

Of course, to be fair, for every a-hole cop, there's a dumb ass squid that probably deserves that a-hole cop in the first place...
