    Congratulations Jaynnus!

So spill the beans: Where did you buy, what model year, new or used, color and accessories? Test ride or no?

Super secret deal...I COULD NOT pass it up.

2013, brandy new, Roadie, ABS, White....accessories to follow.

No test ride....I never met a bike I didn't love, and besides, I seriously got a deal I could not refuse.

    Re: Tiger 800 Roadie

Strange, but I also bought mine without test riding it even though it was a demonstrator bike with 131 miles on it. I even showed up at the dealer (Suzuki-Triumph of Swansea) with all my riding gear in the car. I sat on it and bought it. Mine is also a white one, and though I hate while cars I do for some strange reason like white motorcycles. Like you, it was such a deal I couldn't say no.

So, yeah, under 3 pages, and no drama!! I have not been around these parts for a while, but judging by this thread it must be spring!

    Congrats. You'll love it.

Make sure you nut and bolt it after a few hundred miles. I found a ton of loose stuff.

Make sure you let your coworker Ken and/or his daughter have a ride on it. I swear that if he and his whole fam damily keep doing those long vacation rides that would be the perfect bike for him and or her. He seemed to get attached to the Triumph triple with that Sprint RS that he picked up for a song.

    Congratualtions.

And now that money can got to accessories!
    Heated hand grips.
    Hand guards.
    California Scientific windscreen.
    Stebel Nautilus horn.

On the Tiger 1050 I added a driver so both headlights run at low beam, not sure if that is necessary on the T800.

    Re: Tiger 800 Roadie

May 18th. I'm already registered, which means I can wait in the long line with all the folks who didn't pre-register to get the same free meal.

Honestly, if that's the worst part of an otherwise great event, I don't mind a bit. Last year was really crowded, to the point that I couldn't even shop the store and I did want to buy some things.

Jaynnus has access to some really good bits for her bike, not the least of which are the Barkbusters hand guards. I'll probably pick up those when I go to the Open House, as I hear they're better than the Triumph factory ones. There are other add-ons that the factory stuff is a better value and/or function than aftermarket, such as the crash bars. The Adventure Fog Light kit is pretty good too. The factory luggage is pricey and though I personally like the looks, she can get much better deals on other choices should she want to tour. Twisted Throttle has a boatload of bits for that bike from Trax, SW-Motech and a wide range of others.

Mostly I want to go for a ride. That and go fiddle with Trax top boxes. Well, mostly I just want to go for a ride.

Free food doesn't hurt my feelings.

    Re: Tiger 800 Roadie

The factory 800 headlight is excellent. And MadStad windshields gets the best reviews for the 800 if you search through many threads and the thousands of posts. And yes, the factory hand guards are not that great. I had them put on my Roadie when I bought it. They're better than nothing as far as wind protection goes but they're still a little small even for that. They'd be fine for stopping branches from smacking your hands but they'll fold right up in a fall. And yes, the factory engine guards fit great and offer lots of engine case protection. I put them on mine and it took about 20 minutes and every bolt hole lined up perfectly. I have heard horror stories of having to muscle high dollar aftermarket bars to line up. And if you're planning on taking the bike off road or dropping it on a regular basis I don't recommend then factory luggage.

    Re: Tiger 800 Roadie

    +1 on what GearHd6 wrote.

Headlights are great -- dual H4, none of this one high-beam, one low-beam nonsense.

Ride around with the stock windscreen for a while before you buy an aftermarket one. I find the stock one to be fine as is. You may too.

Stock handguards are flimsy; fine for weather protection, useless in a crash. Tusk D-Flex handguards ($60) are a good alternative to the Barkbusters ($200ish).

Factory engine guards fit great and are nice and solid. I haven't had to crash-test mine, fortunately, but they ought to hold up really well. I wouldn't worry about tank protection bars -- the plastics on the tank are specifically made to be replaced on the cheap (which is why they're unpainted) and to protect the tank itself if the bike goes down. And for what it's worth, one of the tank protection bar designs (I forget which one at the moment) has proven to be prone to breaking the engine case that it bolts to. Poor design.

And yeah, skip the factory luggage. Not very sturdy. For what it's worth, I've got Givi side racks for my Tiger, and they're a quick-detach design. The whole rack can be dismounted from the bike in about 30 seconds, and remounted in the same amount of time. Great design. I use them to stabilize Wolfman Expedition Dry soft saddlebags -- and dismounting the racks is so quick that I actually leave the Wolfman bags attached to the racks when I'm not using them. It takes longer to attach the various straps on the bags than it does to mount the racks. Or if you prefer hard luggage, you can obviously use that instead. The Givi Trekker luggage is actually pretty nice.

Farkle, farkles, and more farkles....the list is growing.

I know just the place to get the low down on the accessories. I just may have a lead on getting the bike loaded on the cheap...it just may have to make the show circuit this year too.
