It's with a heavy heart that i write this, but feel that it's time to update you all. As many of you know i was hit two months ago by an [explitive] soccer mom in a minivan and she destroyed my F4i. let me make is crystal clear...this is by no means an "i'm not riding again" thread. Rather it is more like a hiatus..True this was my first season, but 10k miles in about 6 months is rather impressive(in my opinion). I'd like to think that those who have ridden with me know my passion for riding and my passion for becoming a great rider will not flicker out or fade. It's not a question of will I ride again, but more when. I've decided to take a break. I've been agonizing over this for a long time, but I've promised many people that love me that I won't ride for a while. It sucks, it sucks A LOT. But i have to think about the people around me for a while and let the waters cool...
I already miss riding so much...Hell, i've been missing it since the day i was hit...However, i think we can all agree that this has been one of the worst years in terms of cager taking out bikes. Those who have seen the pics of my bike know that I am EXTREMELY lucky to have escaped with relatively minor injuries. A rider on the R6 messagenet was recently killed in the same type of accident that took me out. I'll have scars on my legs for the rest of my life as a memory that fateful Friday lunch time ride..
I really what to thank everyone that I have ridden with this season, as I have learned something from each and everyone of you. I hate singling out individuals out of fear of leaving someone out, but i feel there are a few that i must thank. Wayne, John, Mike, Tim and Jeff. You are the people that will stand out in my mind as the individuals really helped me this season. I've learned so much about riding from you guys and i can't thank you enough. I realize how difficult it is to invite a NEWB on rides, especially when you want to spark things up a bit. I hope that when i return in a year or so, that you will welcome me back.
However, not to completely be out of the performance look, i have already signed up for two 6 hour endurance karting events (lime rock oct 16th, and Moroso, FL Dec 4th) and last weekend i bought a black mustang GT. (pics will be up soon). I'll still be on the boards, because you can never learn enough about bikes, and my ultimate goal is to get on the track where the are no minivans, kids, dogs, potholes, chipmunks, tarsnakes, drunks, etc. Thanks again everyone, I'll be back on two wheels again as soon as i can...
PS Wayne...I'd still like to get one more ride in this season if it's possible...
