I wonder if they let scooters up? May have to check the restrictions on that...

I get it, but would the scooter be less capable going down the mountain? It’s an interesting question. My guess is that the brakes are better, but the lack of a manual first gear to take some of the work off the brakes is what makes the difference.

The belt stays engaged, so I slow down without brakes coming to a stop, till a few feet before I put my feet down. I'll have to get on a long continuous steep downhill to try it out more seriously. Brakes are awesome, by far the best brakes I've ever had on a bike, and no front end dive what so ever

Did you join a gang yet?

There are moped gangs and motorcycle gangs, there must be scooter gangs?

If not you should start one. You can own the clothing line!

First tank of gas 182 miles, 2.77 gal. = 65.7 mpg, 3.9gal tank was flashing on empty, so that means I had 1.2gal in reserve

250 is stretching it, maybe if the wind is at your back most of the ride, I'm gonna be looking for gas at 175

Re: Is it time to get a scooter

I finally got around to #1 adjusting the lumbar support, shoulda done it sooner, only 2 positions, or take it off altogether. I put it in the forward position, works better for shorter inseams. and # 2, adjusted the windscreen, like the lumbar support, there are 2 positions, I raised it to the upper position, got the wind out of my eyes and on my hairline, perfect, I can feel the wind in my hair, without the wind trying to sneak around my glasses

compared to my V-Strom, and K-Pipe, both of which sport a Thrush Cherry Bomb, the AK-550 is whisper quiet, not even a lot of wind noise, loudest sounds come from the tires and driveline, the engine is just a faint purr in the background

Pretty wild little machine Randy's got. Had a chance to give 'er the once over this weekend. It's amazing how far scooters have come. And even with the stock exhaust, it sounds kinda badass!

Re: Is it time to get a scooter

I knew it was bound to happen, keyless operation does not mean I don't have to turn the switch to the off position. drained my battery, access is taking windscreen and front panel off. Battery wouldn't take a charge, called the service dept at RMS, they were here in an hour to pick it up, gonna have em do my 1st service while they have it, using synthetic flavored oil, add a pigtail to the battery do that I don't have to tear the front half apart to access for a battery tender, and a small bit of warranty work, one of the threads on the windshield mount has a bur, and needs the threads chased with a tap

Funky cross between a piagio MP3 and the Yamaha Niken.

When you were 1st looking at scooters I was going to mention the MP3, but figured it would be too funky/weird.

Anne was looking at MP3s a couple years ago, everytime one turned up on craigslist, it was gone before we had a chance to call

battery dead again, this time not completely dead, enuf to open trunk, and light guages, but big click at the starter button, gonna put a charge on it, take it in to dealer, look for parasitic draw, and load test battery again, likely a new Yuasa to replace the Taiwanese oem
