    The Next 650r?

I sure hope so because I am really liking the changes.

Looks like one bad ass street-fighter now.

    Re: The Next 650r?

Its not called a 650R, I forget what the new name for it is. The 09 650R has actually been completely redone with a more sporty headlight.

edit: Its called the ER6-N. No fuckin idea what that means.

    This is the new 650R:

    Re: The Next 650r?

I saw it at the Long Beach show in Dec. It's awesome! It's the European counterpart to the 650R. European 6N=Naked or the European 6F=Faired bike. Same exact chassis except they have offered ABS all along on the Euro model

I think they were afraid to bring it in do to the shaky success of the Z1000. I would have loved to have this ER-6N rather than my 650R, but...
It should be at the Kaw booth in NY this weekend

The other thing to check out at the show is the new BMW S1000RR. WOW

    Re: The Next 650r?

I think they have always had the er-6n (naked, and only available overseas) and er-6f (faired, for the us market), the new 09's don't do a think for me, but the new naked ones are pretty sweet, one of my friends who also has the same year 650r as me (07) took his plastics off and basically made a er-6n, cause at that time they weren't available in the states yet. Kawi also did a little dirty thing and made certain colo schemes available in Canada but not here, like the gold framed/black plastics 650r. Bastards.

hmmm... might just be the perfect bike for Renee.

I like the naked one. Looks like it would be easy to mount up some "tip over" protection.

The OEM frame sliders for the 650R and triple-bolt and they are awesome... I've crash tested them on both sides

    Re: The Next 650r?

the ER6N has been out in europe for quite some time, and i'm pretty sure it's one of the top 3 sellers in the UK, if not #1. they absolutely love them (and naturally we in the US don't get any of the cool euro-only stuff, and if we do it's years behind).

pretty sure it's been out over there for at least a generation...

I really like that ER6-N...especially if I could chop another 3" or so off the rear seat, but I'll take it as it is...

I agree, except without the stupid radiator shrouds of the Buell...

I just showed Renee the pics and got an enthusiastic thumbs up, so that's half the battle.

Unfortunately, our "new bike for Renee" fund got depleted with her and I getting Lasik this winter.

    Re: The Next 650r?

Overall not bad; I'm glad they are starting to be sold over here. Would make a nice commuter. I dunno about the headlight (on the naked); looks droopy and too big. I like more basic...like the Honda 919.

I didn't like the seat when I saw it in pictures, but when I saw the bike in person and after owning one now, it's not bad at all. You can also get a seat cowl for it from Kawasaki (or aftermarket) that makes it look a lot better. Over all, I love the bike.
