    Tire plugs

My mom just got a flat on her new Triumph Bonneville in the front. The hole is right between the treads in the front. Is it possible to plug a front, and is it safe?

    I'd buy a new tire.

Even with those cool giant-thumbtack-shaped plugs you have? I'd think those would be perfect for such a repair.

    Re: Tire plugs

Yeah, those are definitely the way to go, but even with those in the mix I'm not sure I'd run one on my own front tire given that I could buy a new one for relatively short money.

Plug it and check the pressures frequently for the first week or so.

    Re: Tire plugs

I plugged an SV650 front tire of mine, the day before I sold it. I told the buyer, and he drove it for a week after the plug was installed and it was still OK when he bought a new tire. I would be careful and not make the plug a permanent solution.
