    more tire question

All tires have a production code, a "born-on-date".

Lot next to the DOT label on the sidewall. You should see 4 numbers in a block.

    For example - 2804.

This means that the tire was produced the 28th week of 2004.

You will never, ever find an expiration date on a tire. As long as they are stored properly they will be fine. Keep them out of the sun, cool and dry and try to prevent them from freezing.

A frozen tire will crack if shocked.

Tires don't, and cannot "dry rot". There is no moisture inside to cause them to dry out. The rubber degrading is what causes the cracks.

The exception would be race tires run through heat cycles and stored. The nature of these are such that they may be more prone to "age".

    more tire question

Manufacturers state that any tire stored in a controlled environment has a shelf life of 5 yrs. If it's older than that, don't take the chance of using it.

I wouldn't use it if I were you. Your 10R has enough power to make a bad tire look even worse in terms of grip. Don't chance it! Buy a new one off the internet!
