If you know what fits, you can usually find some pretty nice deals on the WERA board. I got a pretty sick deal on a lightly used Dainese for like 350 shipped.

Advensport has a great entry level suit for $300 to $400 new that just about any motorcycle shop can order in for you. (Available as a one or two piece.) I've pounded the bejesus out of mine, and the thing has taken it like a champ. It won't win any beauty contests any more, but it also doesn't need to.

Now, that said, the armor/padding in it is lighter than more expensive suits, although they may have updated to CE grade since I got mine a few years ago. So if you're looking to road race, I'd consider a higher end suit. It has a back pad, but not a proper back protector, so I'd also invest in a separate back protector to wear under the suit.

EDIT: AGV not Advensport... dunno why after 5 years I still screw that up...

I've had good luck with lower end tecknic suits. Definitely well tested, and never a problem. In most cases don't bother with a 2 piece. I tried that with my first suit and the jacket was so short its awkward to wear without the pants.

I just got a suit from Spartan Leathers (www.spartanleathers.com) and it's overall good quality. $550 for a custom fit suit.

What's your build? There tend to be some suits for sale for pretty short $ at the track. For new and fairly inexpensive, I couldn't tell ya. I've got a Vanson 1-piece, second hand, that's been crash tested to the moon and back. Still intact, still strong, still protected me nicely when I tested it, and I'm still using it. I don't see replacing it anytime soon.

i looking at these last night at work and i also heard through some other people that the jacket is most likely allways going to be to short without the pants .. i just figured i could get more use out of it wearing it on the street and track

Re: to the track guys and racers

I got a Alpinestars Stage 2-piece which costs me around $450 a couple years back. I wear my jacket without the pants and I don't mind it. Yes it sits above the waist but whatever. Don't feel like shelling out money for another jacket.

check the clearance rack at the vanson outlet because sometimes you can get lucky

I found a 2-piece, brand new, that fit me perfectly (6'0, 138lbs) and only cost $266
