Did an engine change over the weekend

My Concours had a broken exhaust valve at 93,000 miles so I swapped the engine with one out of a parts bike I serendiptiously had purchased this past Spring (solely to sell parts from). The parts bike turned out to be pretty profitable even without selling the engine and I actually cleared about $350 (so far) on the deal and still have plenty of semi-valuable parts (like the radiator, carbs, forks, wheels, final drive, junction box, instrument cluster, brake rotors, muffler) left.

The swap was a lot of work because of the shaft drive, but it's done and works well, aside from a minor and fully understood (I just need to order the part) electrical glitch that was there before the new engine was put in.

I can't believe how dated that bike feels compared to my 9R but is sure is nice for long rides, two-up, and cold weather riding.

It's an the running bike is an 86 withan 88 motor. The parts bike is the 88. That said, they are all the same. What do you need?

Pretty sure it's got 41 mm forks. They are both straight but one of the lower legs has some superficial road rash. The handlebars are available but may look pretty funny on a 1000R as they are pretty tall.

Cams (with no big pits) and carbs intrigue me, cams would be useless without the 36mm carbs (Conks came with 32mm carbs) though.

You are welcome to try the bars out. Prolly need new brake line though. Lemme know if you need the forks and stuff. They are just taking up space.

Perhaps a trade of forks and handlebars for carbs and cams would work...

    Not familiar with a zz1000G...

Conk fairing looks like a really fat Ninja. They should have called it the Chunkours. Works great in the rain and cold though. Sucks in the heat, big time.

You got any ignition pickup coils? I need a set.

Appreciate the offer on the coils but I decided to get some new ones and ordered them last night. The ones that failed were bought used last year and I suspect another set of old ones will die rather quickly too. I pretty much only use the bike for long rides and don't want to get stranded far from home. Seems these coils have a limited life span...

Still willing to trade the forks and handlebars for the cams and carbs though...

Lemme know. I'm in no hurry, got plenty of projects right now.

BTW, are the forks for the bike that was recently wrecked? Somehow, I thought you needed a set for a newer bike. The Conk forks may be a little too long for a Ninja. A Conk has quite a bit more rake and therefore, perhaps longer tubes.
