Dang man , Your younger than me , lol , I'm turning 17 in July ,

well from what I've seen , You need to bring your parents to the track because you sign the release form at the track. I think theres a guideline or something at www.samnetracing.com or something like that.

    trackday!?

Mandatory Items: (these items will be checked at tech inspection)

    1. Your mirrors must be removed, or completely taped and folded in, if possible. Personally, I recommend removing them as it is one less thing to break if you crash.

    2. Headlights and taillights must be COMPLETELY taped over. NO LIGHT can show through... especially the tail light!!! After taping, turn on the lights and tap the brake to verify. If you are leaving the turn signals on, please tape them over as well. The purpose of the tape is to keep them in one piece if you crash. EXCEPTION: If you're headlight has the protective film, then you do not need to cover it with tape.

    3. Make sure that all other fasteners (body hardware, brake caliper bolts, etc.) are properly tightened. This is very important... physically go around the bike, and put a wrench or screwdriver on EVERY nut, bolt and screw you can find.

Pay special attention to your Oil Drain Plug, Oil Filter, Levers, and Exhaust brackets.

    4. Tires must be in EXCELLENT condition with plenty of tread remaining.

    5. Chain or Belt must be in EXCELLENT condition with no signs of RUST or DEGRADATION. If Shaft drive, there must be no leakage or obvious signs of poor maintenance.

    6. All levers and controls must operate freely. Throttle must SNAP BACK to the off position when released.

    Recommended Items: (Not Mandatory)

    1. Safety Wire your oil drain plug so it cannot come loose.

    2. If you have a spin on type oil filters, put a hose clamp around the filter, and then wire the clamp to prevent the filter from spinning loose. If you're filter is behind a cover, drill and wire the access bolt.

    3. If your bike is water cooled, Remove the anti-freeze and replace it with straight water, or water with a water pump lubricant such as WaterWetter by RED LINE.

NOTE: The RECOMMENDED items are just that. They are not required, and while they may be a little time consuming, they could end up preventing a life threatening situation. You will probably ride your bike harder than ever before, and there is a tendency for things to come loose that would not do so under normal riding conditions. Overheating problems, or even a minor crash, can result in oil or coolant being dumped onto the track. NO ONE CAN RIDE UNTIL IT GETS CLEANED UP, and since there is not a regular cleanup crew, it takes a long time to do this.

    Protective Gear:

There's a good saying that covers this section: Dress for the crash, not the ride!

I don't mean to scare you, but you should dress as though you were going to crash!! This goes for EVERY time you get on your bike...regardless of whether you're going on the track or not.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. HELMET - An UNDAMAGED full-faced helmet with a SNELL 95 or 2000 certification (or equivalent). If your helmet is more than 5 years old, please replace it...a helmet's ability to protect you degrades over time, even if it has not been involved in a crash.

    2. GLOVES - Full leather gloves that leave NO EXPOSED SKIN on the hands or wrist.

    3. BOOTS - Over the ankle boots, preferably leather.

    4. LEATHERS - Full leathers are not mandatory, but are highly encouraged. If you don't own leathers, try to borrow a set.

    Aerostich type suits are acceptable.

If you absolutely cannot find a full suit, you can ride in jeans and a leather jacket. If you do this, please wear 2 pairs of jeans and some sort of knee protection. "Rollerblading" type pads work well. Surprisingly, this combination will work pretty good if you don't spend a long time sliding on the pavement.

    Quote from MASS RMV website
    " Limitations with a Class M Permit

You may NOT carry a passenger. You may drive during daylight hours ONLY (between sunrise and sunset). You must wear a DOT standard helmet. You must also wear eyeglasses, goggles or a protective face shield unless the motorcycle is equipped with a windscreen or windshield. You may not operate a motorcycle outside Massachusetts if that state's laws prevent you from legally doing so.

    "

Also I don't think you can go out of state for 6 months after you get your liscense , cause of those frigin JOL laws in MA

I researched this before, RI and NH do NOT recognize MA permits. So if you have a MA permit, stay in MA.

Hold on , South shore motorsports has a truck , load up your bike and get your dad or something to drive you there , then unload the bike , and waaalaahhh , you have made it legally to the track

Or just take your bike and ride there illegally , just be careful

or let someone ride your bike there and you sit on the back .

I don't think you need any type of license or insurance to do trackdays, its on private property. Just need a bike in good condition and of course $200. But I would check just in case.

If you're under 18, the parent must be present to sign a release.

That gets you into the track.

I have to look at the other legal ramifications regarding actually riding, but I suppose if the parent is present, that will be enough.

Email me direct... I will want to speak with one or both of your parents ahead of time (by email, at least)
