Trade the 998 for a Hyper?

Who has or has ridden a Hyper?

I am thinking I need something a little more comfortable than the 998.

Is it good in the twisties? Comfy 2 up? Good for over 200 miles a day in the Saddle? (The 998, even with the Sarget seat and Heli bars is rough at 100)

    I might even go with a 796.

    What do you guys think?

I highly recommend it. I bought one back in October from Seacoast. After 600 miles, I can tell you that it's a blast to ride. It's home is on the twisties for sure. You can't glean anything from a test ride up there, unless you can get out one-on-one and open it up a bit. You won't be disappointed. Good deals to be had. Eastern Cycle in Beverly has a leftover if Seacoast is out.

    I have an 08 1100s. Do it.
It'll be far more comfortable than a superbike, it's fun on the track, and it's a hooligan bike on the street.

Something will need to be pretty spectacular for me to get a different bike anytime soon.

    Do it.

Can't speak to handling or comfort... but have you seen a Hypermotard 796 in person? It's a small bike. I really couldn't see riding 2 up on one for more than a couple miles.

I still think you shouldn't rule out a Triumph Street Triple or even Speed Triple.

Re: Trade the 998 for a Hyper?

Ducatis are nice, yeah, but so are Triumphs. And they're easier to maintain.

But if you insist on a Ducati, you should really check out the Sport Classics. The Sport 1000 is simply awesome (I liked it a lot better than the Streetfighter after test-riding both, plus it's WAY more beautiful). And if you want serious long-distance comfort and 2-up ability, the GT1000 would be perfect.

Just go down to Cyclewise on Saturday and look at them all in person. It's supposed to be sunny and 43 degrees out -- they'll probably even let you test-ride a few bikes.

    No monster...

Streetfighter is a little out of my price range.

Re: Trade the 998 for a Hyper?

    Hyper's a blast.
2 valve air cooled...not a big deal to maintain
if you go the hyper route consider the extended tank - better range
the Sport Classic with the low bars was very uncomforatable to me

    And...the new Multi...holy fak!!!

I would get a used GT1000 for around 6k and a new Husqvarna SMR450. Just me though.

I only had a Hyper for a couple days (loaner), it was an S model and a ton of fun. I like my Husky SM610 10x more though.... it's a true SuperMoto, not an overweight impersonation of one.... just my $0.02

do it. Keith and I both love it. It's a decent ride two up. The only thing that ever sucks is no wind protection. I hope to get the 796 for myself in a year or two.
