    Question Trailer/Pit-Bull Trailer Restraint Question

I'm in the process of (finally!!) buying an enclosed trailer and I just ordered a couple of the Trailer Restraints from Pit-Bull.

I know there are a few of you using them...have you been tying/chocking/stabilizing the front wheels? If not, are the bars turning on you in transit?

I have a Scotts damper on 2 of the 3 bikes that will be used with the restraint. Will tightening the damper fully be enough?

I'm going back and forth on chocking each of the tie-down positions, running a guide line to the front wheels just to keep them turned to one side or the other, or not doing anything. The first big trip its going to see will be 4 bikes (plus other stuff) coast to coast, so I really don't want to discover a problem half way across the country.

    Thoughts/insight?

    Thanks

I believe what you'd want to do is use the pitbull restraint along with straps just snugged up to keep the bike from bouncing around.

    Re: Trailer/Pit-Bull Trailer Restraint Question

I've been using the Pit Bull for 2-3 years now. I use my steering lock to stop my front wheel from moving side to side. As for the front bouncing up and down I never had an issue. I did use a single strap up front on longer trips as extra support.

I just use one front tie down and just take the slack out of it to catch the front on big bumps.

    Re: Trailer/Pit-Bull Trailer Restraint Question

Steering lock is a good idea. That'll take care of two of them.

I'm not worried about the bounce as much as I'm wondering about the side to side of the wheel and bars when the bikes are 3 wide. (the strom has wide bars).

    Thanks guys

We have 5 of them in the BOMO trailer, we have never had any issues with the front end's bouncing around. We are also a pitbull dealer, should have bought from us!

    Cool! Thanks for the input.

I'll keep BoMo in mind when I move back East. You guys weren't set up when I left
