I like the idea of V nose because you can use the extra space for crap or to stick the third bike way up front which may help??

Well keep in mind I went "economy" so I could taylor it to all my needs including bike transport so I don't have the ramp door, side door, v-nose and no vents and I also had to do my own cleats.

However, I do have lighting and the diamond plate on the front.

Keep in mind that trailer build quality varies greatly... and that is why you'll find greatly varying costs for seemingly similar units.

Lots of things can change the price...

    Spacing of frame members.

    Thickness of metal.

Type of axle (leaf springs cost less than torsion).

    Anyway, the list goes on.

A quality trailer, that is not mis-used, will look and perform the same as new for many, many years.

I still think that if money is an issue, a higher quality used unit will serve you better.

That being said what brands should I consider?

So far I am mainly looking at Pace, Haulmark and Mission. Mainly these three because I have spoken to places that carry those ones, and I had heard of pace and haulmark.

I know the mission one is a v nose with torsion suspension and an aluminum frame which the saleslady said was a good advantage??

Pace, Haulmark, Wells Fargo, Carmate are ones that I've heard of.

However, I am by no means an expert in trailers other than the research I did when buying mine.

I just know there are vast quality differences ... possibly even within one brands line.

+1 on what 35 has said.

I would skip buying new, and go with a high quatliy used unit. Its the little things that you will hate in the long run. if your hauling three bikes i would suggest something wider then a 6 footer. makes moving around in there much easier. im assuming your towing wiht your titan? it should have no problem hauling a 7x14 ish trailer. anything bigger you would have to watch your weight.

    Re: Trailer Size Q's

The thing is that most of the time I'm going to be hauling 2 bikes. I am only taking more than that if other peeps I'm going places with need to have stuff moved.

For NHIS stuff itll be just me, but for the big trips like VIR it would be nice to have extra room for others. The cost may be prohibitive though, not the size.

New (which I may or may not) there is about 1600 bucks diff in price from a nicely outfitted 6x12 and a nicely outfitted 7x14. Thats a nice chunk of change.... Its mainly b/c the 7x14's have the electric brakes and double axels.

I would not want a trailer without brakes.

I have a 7x12 single axle, but it has brakes.

I lost my brakes due to a short once, and really noticed the difference when braking.

Also, with the amount of trips you do, I think you should bite the bullet and go for the larger sizes (7x12 and larger). Over the long run, the money will be well spent... and you'll probably get back the difference when you sell anyway.

When I was looking I figured i'd go bigger than I really "needed"....and save the hassle of not being happy with it and wanting to upgrade down the road

PS... I'm done with this whole trailer topic.

Unless you post that you're buying a trailer with one wheel in the middle cuz you got a screamin' deal... I have provided everything I know and have experienced.

    Good luck,

Can we talk aboput the V-nose for a minute....

The guy at CTtrailers tells me its a myth that is cuts wind better or saves on gas. With a 6x12 I loose soem valuable space by going to a vee....whats the real story on em?

    Re: Trailer Size Q's

i wouldnt really count on any V nose giving you a boost in mileage. Fact is your towing a few thousand lbs worth of crap so your mileage will suck no matter what with your gasser. the only reason some like V nose in is the ability to build a work space in that area which is nice if you have room to spare in your trailer. But since your worried about space and seem to like the 6x12, i would get just a regular square front so you can utilize all the space inside for your bike as well as tools, stands etc.

+1 on your trailer having its own brakes

Hi Manny, have a 7x14 Renegade aluminum v-nose. I an very impressed with the build quality and the fact it only weighs 1600 lbs.I have taken it to many places and half the time you forget you are pulling it. Ask Degs or Mick about it. Matt
