Damaged bike while being transported question.

So last night my truck was rear ended with my hyper in the back. Not sure how it happened but the impact managed to topple the bike over on its side (pretty sure it was the ratcheting mechanism that failed on the straps), it fell on top of the aluminum loading ramp and of course the side of the bed.

The bike and truck are currently registered and insured (same owner/policy), but either way I was not at fault. My question is mostly about if the claim on the bike would need to be filed separately for the bike or together on one claim. I've already called and left multiple messages to my agent and haven't heard back so I figured I ask here in case someone has been through the same thing.

Thanks in advance for any info/advice.

I don't know, so I am just guessing, but wouldn't the bike be covered as "cargo" in that instance?

Re: Damaged bike while being transported question.

I worked at a Yamaha dealership back when i was in high school. We once had a Warrior that fell out of the back of a truck and struck a tree at speed. The frame was bent to shit and needed replacement, and apparently his automotive insurance covered the cost of it all because it was cargo. I can only imagine that it would be covered for this case as well. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
