Saw them on Kneedraggers, you can get a rear stand for $63! Check it out here. Anyone tried one? I hear Vortex aren't bad for the $ either...

I think that the general concenses is that you should save a couple of bucks and buy something like a pitbull. I was gonna do the same thing you are thinking about but someone said "do you want to put a $10,000 bike on a cheap 60 dollar stand?" is when it hit me that I will skimp on other things but not on a stand.

Hm.. what about a $3500 bike? Are the Vortexes comparable to Pit-Bulls?

go into the suspension section and ask Peter how much he can get you a Woodcraft rear stand for. These stand are great and not much more money.

I actually got a free stand with the bike! I think it's a Pit-Bull. It's a bit scrappy to look at, but it does the job.

Is there a trick, though, to getting a bike (regular double-sided swingarm) on a rear stand WITHOUT having someone help you? `Cause it seems to me it's a headfuck if you're on your own

not really. I jsut balance mine with my hip on one side and hand on the other. Just take a little bit of practice and a flat surface. Pitbulls are the best IMHO.

Seriously? You have to be kidding...that sounds like a method that will get the bike dropped.

I stand the bike up by grabbing the passenger peg and push the subframe with my left shoulder or upper arm. I put the stand under the spools with my right hand and simply push down. Up goes the bike!

Woodcraft stands are a piece of cake to work with.
