Don't get your hopes up. They've repeatedly said they're not making a Daytona 1050.

But there is apparently a bigger-displacement sportbike on the way. Rumor has it it'll compete with the Hayabusa and ZX-14.

Don't get me started on that thing... or the idiotic decision to recycle the Thunderbird name so soon, which will inevitably lead to confusion at the parts counter.

Rumor has it, actually, that the 1600 has been in development for so long that by the time the big-bore cruiser market tanked, Triumph was too far along and had to continue development on this bike in order to attempt to recoup at least part of its investment.

Meanwhile, there's no word on the highly-anticipated 675 Tiger, and even if they do get around to making that bike, it'll almost certainly be a motard. Another idiotic decision, seeing as dual-sports are the only kind of bike seeing any growth right now, and the BMW F800GS is a hot seller, so they really should make the 675 Tiger dirt-capable.

Triumph has done a lot of things right, but they make some decisions that make me go .

Though a 675 motard would be very enticing too...

What they should do is offer a Tiger 675 in both DS and motard form, like Yamaha does with the WR250 and Suzuki does with the DR-Z400. It's an easy thing to do -- just swap out wheels/tires and maybe some gearing.

No kidding. I own a '96 T-Bird Adventurer, and I really like the bike. Even though it is considered the "Cruiser" version of the T-Bird series, with a few mods (lower bars, ZX7 shock, jetting, etc.) it runs and behaves more like a standard. It draws looks and comments (mostly positive) wherever it goes, has proven to be very reliable, is easy to work on, and has enough every day performance to keep me happy.
I am all for the 675 Tiger or motard bike, though. My DRZ is getting a bit old...

    This new T-Bird? Ugh.
