    Re: Triumph Adventure

Give me the off road version with some crazy antic grilled headlights, a neighborhood-powering alternator, center stand and armor-up-the-ass,

    OR

Give me the on-road version with radial-mount front brakes, a 160 series rear tire and some locking, easily removable, indestructable waterproof luggage that doesn't stick out from the look of the bike like a cancerous polyp on your large intestine.

How do you like your head lights grilled? Medium or well done?

Anyway, I'm sure Mark doesn't appreciate bickering in his thread. Back to the topic at hand...

I wonder if you could easily swap on a Tiger 1050 front end. Hmmmm

If you want an upright sportbike, why wouldn't you just buy the Tiger 1050? Or, for that matter, the Street Triple?

Yeah, I'd lose that one too, Erik. Is this going to be a cheaper, lighter version of the 800gs? That's pretty much all I want in life.

I hope the motor is a stroked 675.....

I'm eagerly awaiting someone getting this bike, letting me try it, and me being overly disappointed. That would be easier on my wallet than the alternative.

Coming to a demo truck near you next summer? My next bike will be some sort of suv like this. I just know that I'd try and ride it like a dirtbike...

Lighter remains to be seen, but I think cheaper is a safe bet. Better-suspended too, from what I've heard.

Some clearer versions of the "spy" pics popped up on ADVrider today:

I saw the AC Schnitzer F800GS and I've been wanting one ever since. They put SuMo wheels on it, a full WP suspension, etc. etc., and turn it into an awesome road machine.

Some more details and a pic emerged today.

A greek dealer in Northern Greece recently reported in a local T forum that he serviced one of 12 test bikes (a spoked wheeled 800XC) at 4500miles, reportedly performing last minute long term test around Europe (and the world?). Each bike will complete about 10K miles before returning to Hinkley for last minute changes - updates. This particular bike came from England, through Germany and Italy, Greece, Turkey, Greece again and is returning through the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

The dealer reports having ridden the bike both on and off road and reports excellent handling on the dirt and very decent on the road (main con on the road its 21inch front wheel). Very reponsive engine, 95PS factory rated.

Expected price in Greece about 9500-10000 Euro for the non-ABS models making them cheaper than the BMW GS800. The ABS models will come later in 2011. Prices in the UK should be somewhat lower judging from other models (as a comparison the 1050 Tiger ABS costs here the better part of Euro 13000).

Other info: Reportedly somewhat lighter and slightly thinner than the 1050. Seat(s) adjustable in three positions for +- 1 cm. Showa adjustable USDs. Silver painted frame. This particular bike required tubed tyres. About 400 (??!!!) accessories and custom rider gear to be announced for the series (maybe that should read 40?).
And this is the pic taken at the Greek dealership. Shame they masked it, but there are still some interesting details visible.

The Sprint GT's cool, but this new Tiger is cooler. Happen to have heard anything about when they'll actually be on dealer floors?

Yeah, I've heard March. Which knowing Triumph, means April-May. I just need to get one by early May, as I'm leaving for Alaska on June 5 straight from the Bennington Triumph Bash and would like time to put some miles on it (and figure out farkles) before leaving. We'll see.

Mick, rumor has it Triumph is following up in 2012 with a 1200cc Tiger with shaft drive and dual-sport-sized wheels to take on the R1200GS. Sounds like that might be your bike.
