I had a Sprint RS, which is a similar bike with the same motor. They are a lot of fun, the triple motor is really cool. They're a bit heavier than their Jap competitors, but loads more fun to ride in my opinion.

Thats very similar to my SPD3. The 955i has more power than the current 1050cc SPD3. If its anything like my bike, I'm sure it would be a blast to ride. Especially if your used to having tons of torque, like you Buell.

    I have a 2002

That I bought last fall (the double sided swing arm version), it was a little bit rashed up. I fixed it up into a track bike over the winter (see my avatar). As a track bike it's fine, has plenty of power and handles decently (I put Hyperpro springs in front and the rear and mounted Pirelli Corsa III's). I've done 2 trackdays with it at Loudon. As I said it's fine, it's fun, but I think it would make a better street bike than a track bike. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun bike with a great motor. It's little on the heavy side, and it seems to me (disclaimer I'm not an engineer) that the motor wasn't mounted as low in the frame as it could have been, that's what holds it back the most handling-wise (think a little on the top-heavy side). It can be a real workout flicking it side to side on the track, but on the street I can see it being a very good stable riding motorcycle. I still have all the street plastic (in pretty good shape) and am thinking about selling it. Why you might ask? I'm more of a 600cc or v-twin sportbike person (I have an SV1000S that I ride on the street and have used on two trackdays). I just prefer the v-twin power and the center of mass in a smaller lighter bike (like the sv650) for the track. Your milage may vary.

yeah, i know im going to probably miss the V-twin... but the XB was my first bike... and i love(d) it.... but the naked bike just punishes you on the highways... mostly i dont want your run of the mill hondazukikawayami... not that there is anything wrong with any of them, i just like different... like a lifted jeep cherokee amongst wranglers

There are a fair amount of Streetfighter/Naked style bikes out now the have half fairings the provide some wind protection. I get my ass kicked every time i get on the highway, but thats all a part of being a Hooligan! I'll keep my eyes open for ya. If you wanna feel what a triple has to offer I'll let you ride the SPD3. just let me know

i think my next bike will *hopefully* be a triumph -- the triples absolutely HOWL. they sound amazing.

my katana 750 "customized triple" (read: neglected and beaten to shit before i bought it) didn't work so well...

i'd say go for the daytona nick, although you'd know best how much the naked affects your decision, since i've never been on one over 25mph... plus it kinda looks like a larger, smoother, fully-faired version of the shovel-headed SVS

I had an 03 from new. Loved it as a street bike. Plenty of power, torque in every gear, reasonably comfy - did plenty of 350-400 mile days. Sound with a slip on was just great.

did not like it for the track, mainly cause of the weight, but more skilled riders than me tore around on it just fine.
