    Triumph Sprint ST

Just looking for feed back on triumph Sprints.

I'm thinking of selling my Concours 14, for something a little lighter. It's a little over kill for what I'm using it for these days.

Any feed back would be awesome
    Thanks.

    Re: Triumph Sprint ST

I rode one a few weeks ago and loved it. It was a little to leaned over for me to consider adding one to my garage but it was fun as hell. The motor and transmission were fantastic.

    Re: Triumph Sprint ST

My biggest complaint is that the bike is a little hot. I have an '06, so the ergonomics are more leaned over. I wish I had an '07+. I've done a track day and had a blast. I've also done a 2 week, 4,400 mile trip and enjoyed myself (some of the days were a bit of a struggle, but overall it did the job admirably). The motor is fantastic, suspension is stiff enough to handle a full load without getting wallowy.

I have 26,000 miles on mine and still enjoy riding it daily. I've done 600 miles in a day on it and haven't complained too much about it. Mechanically, it's been great, just regular maintenance is all it has needed.

    Re: Triumph Sprint ST

I have a different bike, a 2007 VFR set up for touring with helibars, bags, etc...I did a ton of research. I think the Sprint ST is one bike that has evolved over the years and lot of things improved (bags, riding position, heat management, fuel injection mapping, etc..). The best thing about it in my opinion is the motor. Second best thing is the looks - drop dead gorgeous! When you compare everything else to bikes like the F800ST, VFR and Ducati ST3 it's good, but not quite the same level (suspension, brakes, workmanship). The resale value is in your favor. ABS is available and somewhat common (as opposed to VFR). I would go for a 2008+ personally if I were to replace my VFR which I just logically can't!

Anyone have experience with the ST and the GT for comparison?

I've test ridden a GT. It's a more refined bike, a little bigger, smoother transmission, better headlights and saddlebags. The bags are very much like those on a BMW R1200RT, so they're big and not as awkward looking as the ST bags. Basically, they took most of the gripes people had with the ST and tried to fix them. If the GT was available when I was in the market, I would have bought it. It's a bit more on the touring side than the ST, but still a very sporty bike.
