    triumph street triple

so whos got one? now that i realized i could afford one im torn between the triumph street triple, and the buell xb12s lightning. from what i saw the triumph dealer looking at the daytona 675, the triumph build quality is 10x that of the buell. fit an finish is nice, no tacky plastic covers, everything is finished the way it needs to be. im assuming the same for the street triple, ill get to see it in feb when the local dealer gets one here in ny.

dont know much about the motor, but have read on the reviews that the triple provides great mid range torque and good hp across the board. havnt really heard much about them in person though. any comments?

ya i think i read that yesterday. motorcycle mags and the likes dont really provide me with a real review as many of the things they feel ill never even think twice about because of my lack of exp. anyone with first hand exp with triumphs.

Surprising how with that whole sling thing on, you can still reach your foot right up and put it in your mouth.

...unless you know something I don't.

I have read some Magazine reveiws That say that the Street Triple as Really a better street Bike then the 675 Daytona,

You could prob find a Low mileage 06/07 Speed Triple for close to what you will pay for a New Street Triple, I rode Wookies speed Triple Its a freakin Blast

thats something else i am looking at is a used speed triple. seems you get alot more bike going with the speed. its basically come down to 4 bikes, the street, the speed, the daytona, and the buell.

I have the Daytona675 and love the power delivery and overall feel of the bike. Street triple uses the same motor and frame, with less adjustable suspension, non-radial brakes, no steering damper, etc...

    Poor Denno

Having only ridden a 675 & an XB12ss I obviously don't have the personal experince as someone who's ridden all of the bikes you're looking at, but I'll throw in my two cents anyway. They're so completely different you really need to have a clear idea of what you want in a bike & how you will be riding it.

The 675 was a blast at any speed when I rode it on the track & I'm sure the Speed 3 won't be much different on the street (just more comfy).
The XB was a blast below 65mph & you gotta have a quick shifting foot.

i know the daytona is more a "sport bike" in the general sense of the word and the speed, street, and buell are more street oriented performers. not looking for the fastest, or most powerful, just looking for the fun factor. if i didnt have to hit so much highway id buy a motard. i like the buell and the street cause of their short wheelbase. kind of makes me feel like i could ride it like i ride my dirtbike.

    Re: triumph street triple

Love my speed triple. Tons of power, great handling, great brakes, etc. Absolutely no problems with it. I've put about 8K on it and I still get excited (like new bike excited) when I have a chance to ride it. Works for track days (did 3 or 4 days with the speed triple) and for all day rides (very comfortable).

I think the street/speed triple might hold its value better than the buells with the arrival of the new 1125 buell. The jump from the harley sporster motor to the rotax engine is huge.

What lead you to narrow your choice to the buell and the triumph?

i remember your speed from V's ride, rode behind you for most the day haha, looked damn nice. i narrowed it down to those two because they were the two that in my mind looked the most badass lol, had the performance/styling characteristics i was after, and is in my price range.

I'd say check Riverside motorsports. I've done all of my business through them. They've been great to me, and always hook me up with deals

    You like your CBR ?
    What about the new 600RR?

I hear the new 600 engine rocks with good
mid range torque for an I-4.
Plus I read that the ergos are more upright than
    the 05-06 600RRs.

2 thumbs up for the speed triple. They look sweet especially with the after market they have (triumphdogs looks very nice with the goodies he has) They sound great also.

And for the short rip I took Wookie's for it was a nice ride and felt like a twin that had a taller rev ceiling

Good and comfy with an upright riding position and felt like you were almost over the tire.

i dont mind the cbr but i dont love it either. I originally wanted to buy a 600rr but the more i looked at it the more plane jane it looked. Not to knock anyones ride but seems like all the bikes coming from japan look more and more alike each year. These naked bikes seem to have a bit more character and i like its uniqueness.

Holy shit, it looks SO much better w/o that hideous exhaust that they put on the Speed & Street 3's. That bi-polar personality dual high-mount/undertail exahust they put on there totally kills the good looks of the tail section.

High mount OR undertail... make up your minds.
