    Too good to be true???

I need opinions please. I just came across an '03 Aprilia RS250 with 300 miles on it...and that's not even track miles. The guy would just ride it around town (don't ask why or how becuz I really don't know). It's been sitting in front of his house for at least a few months so the chain is rusted to shit.

Anyway he wants $1,000 for it. Whadaya think???

since you've seen the bike, get the Vin, check if it's stolen & look into how much it'd cost to rebuild cuz it might need a cylinder & a piston, maybe two, but whatever.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Re: Too good to be true???

He says he has 2 frames for it, the original frame and a European spec frame(???). The Eur. frame is currently on it but he has the original title which matches the VIN on the original frame. He said he bought it with full intentions of racing it but decided to go the route of stunt riding instead. It only sat outside for a couple weeks but the gas cap leaked water into the tank from some rain. I know very little about 2 stroke machines which is why I'm a bit leary. Also, that price makes me feel skeptical. I have a buddy who is a state trooper. My next step will be to contact him about this and see what he says.

That's a steal. It's worth about 4-5K with both frames. It's an ideal trackday bike.

Re: Too good to be true???

I just got confirmation from a buddy that works at the dealership this bike came from. It's supposed to be repo'd. Apparently, the guy bounced a check when he paid it in full so he has the title. But technically the shop still owns the bike. Thanks but no thanks. I'll steer waaaay clear of this one.
