The pestulance: those riders are endnagering themselves and others. No way should they be riding like that with that body technique; head twisted, shoulder plowing forward, legs held tight to the bike, ass planted on the seat.

That is why they can only carry 60-70mph through the curves.

Great promo video for getting some racing experience though.

I hope they don't hurt themselves.

PS: only watched 1/3 of the video.

Not sure I understand. At the end of last season I was given some advice on my riding: tilt your head level while taking a curve. I only had a chance to try that a little, but it seemed to greatly reduce the feeling that I was taking the corners too fast. Are you saying that's bad technique?

    He is saying that

    a) They aren't that good

    b) They are idiots for pretending to be racers on the street.

I am no expert but I don't think the riders in the videao were trying to go as fast as possible. I didn't see a whole lot of braking and the camera equipped rider rarely got anywhere near the red line on the tach. The lines they choose were, for the most part, good street lines, meaning they allowed themselves some margin for error and seemed to value visibility over the fastest line.

Well, I'd say they were riding well above the speed limit in a tight twisty street environment with lousy technique.

That's dangerous. To me, It looked like their body language was unsure, inexperienced.

I guess I never looked at it as: "take a nice easy ride with us during the cold weather" type of video. If that were the intent, It's the first I've seen.
Maybe I was too critical, all that it seems is ever posted are the squid's "Hey look at me" videos, I watched it with that frame of mind.

That video just made me wish it wasn't winter.....
But it didn't seem to me that they were going as fast as the speedo said. I think that he doctored it, so he could make it look like he was faster than he is.

    Vid of California riding.

    Cool home movie.
Nice ride regardless of their styles..........
They pass enough mile markers that the avg speed could be figured over that section to see if the indicated speeds are accurate.

Hard to tell the radius of some of those sweepers from the Vid.
Maybe you could do 112 on those straights.

At least the guy (who seems to have jumped in) gives a hand signal at the end.

Re: u see this kawi go?

    That vid's COOL.
Now that guys got more skill than I do but me notice some things............ (isn't everyone a critic?)
Without ever seeing that track, and watching it once
the first corner he cheats left in way before the turn in mark.
and needs to correct back out to avoid apexing the corner early.
Without that corection he's going to run out of track surface (probably) on his exit : Track out point.

Watch the number markers (they generally mean 100's of feet into the corner from a straight line breaking box approach)
see how he commits at (1) then pauses then turns in?

Now at the minute (1.00-.01) mark, (pict below) I just notice he straight chutes the three turns. Perfectly, okay with his line and the turn run out (track out area he had) but the first two are throw aways....meaning how you set up from them doesn't really effect your exit out of the (last) turn onto the straight like turn 3 does.

Thats why I see him wider left at 1:06 then he could be. (i'd go for center of track to the right edge IF possible.

Nit picky I know, but now he has to come all the way back across the straight to the right edge for the next turn.
THERE: the straight line on the straight beats his arc on the straightaway............................

Otherwise, he picks up most of the turn in "X"'s on the track and does punch those other two riders on the track.
Yes those "x"'s are general locations for the line of the track.

    and YES he'd school me.....................on a bike.

maybe they didn't use stock gearing in that first vid...

Suf.. interesting comments.. being a sport riding noob I was just in awe at how fast he gets that kwak around the track. I always thought kawi's were green cuz they wanted to blend in while they were parked on the side of the road..

now i have to watch it again!

But I've got about 80 track days under my (CAGE) belt, so I can pick up on those things.

Pretty F'n cool when someone trusts you with a $50,000 ride at 130 MPH................make damn sure you don't even chirp the tires.

Here is the main page that Video 1 came from (go to the video section on the page ):

    http://www.thepestilence.com/

The first 8 or 9 videos are lower quality due to a cheap digital camer, but the last few appear to be from a new camera.

Vid 12 looks like they are just practicing their technique...or the front rider has relatively little experience...slower pace than the other videos and much more braking in the turns.

I like vid 11 with the camera mounted backward on the lead bike.

    Faster than I go

    Re: 80 * ~$200 = $16,000.00 whoa

Seriously: What ever car I can get that will pass tech.
I've been doing DE (driver Ed) schools since 1996. Instructing since 1999.
I actually drive more rental cars than any others.
Sometimes students will have me drive their car around.

2 weeks ago at WDS: Tim O'neil's rally school in Dalton NH: F-150
    Last October at WG/TracQuest:
Impala (Rent), S4, WRX (auto), Vette
    WG (Aug:NEQ) 87 Coupe GT, 91 200 20V (Mine), A4
    Lime Rock '03: RX7, 20020V (Mine), A4
    WG 02: 99 A6 Avant, a students car.......
    Passat Wagon, Subie Legacy T
    Audi wagons 20V & 10V '90&'91
    Those that I can remember.............
    87 Supra Turbo Students/ 1.8T A4, 325i,
94 Saturn SL2 (Wifes) three events then popped the motor at 167K @ Lime Rock '02
    87 4000Q (my old rig)
    Rentals:
    2 different Mitsubishi Diamantes (WG)
    Chev Malibu v6 at NHIS

P.S. Most schools are ~$100/200 for the weekend (2-3 days)when I teach there. Occasionally, its free.
