    Trying to sort out MPG

I've got a 2000 GSXR600. It supposedly has a fuel capacity of 18.00 litres (4.76 gallons). I tend to fill up right after hitting 100 on my trip meter and my tank always seems empty but my gas light has never gone on and the most I ever seem to have to put in is 3ish gallons. The longest I've ever gone without filling up is about 120 miles but I want to make sure that I'm actually getting decent mileage (and especially that I have no engine probs causing poor mileage) About how many miles per tank should I be getting on my gixxer assuming relatively normal riding conditions (some twisties but no crazy redline bouncing or anything stupid).

100 os RC gas guzzler range, yours should go double that. Just ride till the light comes on and dont be a pussy and second guess it. You may be surprised.

You can probably go about 160 miles at that mileage, which is only about 33mpg.

Check the manual to see how large the reserve is, if it's 1 gallon then you should start seeing the light come on around 125-130 miles or so.

Kind of lame that 600s get that kind of mileage now.

Yeah, it doesnt have a reserve tank which is the main reason I've always been cautious for when to fill up.

You should have a reserve warning light though... that light is the equivalent of a reserve on a modern bike.

Thank you much, unfortunately I dont have the owners manual and have not been able to get my hands on a full mechanics manual like I have wanted to. Thats the reason I asked the question so thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it and will be running my little test this week of trying to find a better mileage limit.

    Trying to sort out MPG

Hey Phate, I have a 2000-02 GSXR 750 manual in an Adobe .pdf file. It's not a 600 but it can't be that different. I also have a 2001-02 GSXR 600 manual in .pdf also. The 750 manual is approx. 142MB and the 600 is about 15MB.

Unfortunately they changed the 750 in 1999 and the 600 in 2000. So that means that those manuals would probably both be pretty different from what I've got myself although I appreciate the offer. I'm def. looking for the 2000 600 in pdf though if you know anywhere else to look. Thanks

Take the number of miles you went and divide it by the number of gallons that you fill the tank with. That's the equation for miles per gallon.

Take the number of gallons your tank fits and multiply that by you previous answer. That's how far you can go.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Is there a gsxr600 specific forum? I've been able to find a pdf service manual online for most of the bikes I have/had on various forums.

On your Gixxer, you'll get a flashing yellow light when it's time to start looking for petrol. Solid yellow light when it's time NOW...
