Trying out some video on the bike. :D

Made a mount for my bike, needs some work, but turned out pretty good. Going to pick up a miniDV cam soon probably, for now I just have some el cheapo Vivitar digicam with the video option on it that I'm using. Absolutely complete piece of garbage in the dark, but I went out this afternoon/evening about 530 and there seemed to be enough light for it to turn out decent. Video is heavily compressed, so its not very good, but mostly took the video to show the road, which I found at work and love.

Pete already made fun of me for being "slow", but christ, the #'s on the speedo with the red block are 55mph, and the road is posted 30 and 35mph, sheesh, cut this noobie a break eh.

That road just begs for triple digits .

It's cool that you got a camera mount set up... But, while you still consider yourself a n00b, don't try to push yourself over your head or anything just to produce some cool video... because you may end up producing some video a lot more interesting that you first anticipated, if ya know what I mean

...that road really does beg for triple digits, though, haha.

Slow? Jeff's a good rider. Hell, he almost got busted with a speeding ticket when we were riding together a few weeks ago. And we were doing WAY over the speed limit...I think we were in a 35 zone. Oops!! That would have completely sucked if he got a ticket when he was with me.

not that i can really say much cuz i crashed only a month after having my bike, but i usually was going 60-80 on every side road.... camera mounts cool too, that road def begs for more speed though, although it did look a little bumpy.

Dude, I made sure he was very aware that I was simply busting his balls. On-board video almost always makes it look like you're going slower than you are because of the view angle of the lense.

Great lookin road, bro. Good find & the camera mount is great, especially for a little home-made project.

I could do a writeup on hte mount, but the only reason it worked on my bike, was because of the nice flat piece of metal in the "Y" where the fairing/nose stay is and I bolted it right to that. That was just sort of a prototype, and once I get a real camera, I'm going to use the same design, but build it to size for the camera, and have it welded, as I dont have the experience or the tools to weld aluminum.

I was only half kidding about the speed, I do my own thing, even if I'm getting tailgated by some asshole cager, if it becomes a real problem I'll just cut off onto a side road and let them pass, or pull over and wave them by.

And Sarah......it wasnt ALMOST a ticket, that car was just some decoy put there by the townies. But had someone been in it......we probably woulda been toast. lol

It seems like you have the setup figured out, but are you going to spice things up with some simple video editing tricks?

I have pretty much the same riding style, and video footage; I just added some music and chopped it up a little.

Yeah, I'm going to fool around some more, once I record more stuff. I found a real gem of a road today.......absolutely flawless pavement, and preceded by a sign that says "curvy symbol" Next 3 miles. And boy was that sign right.

oh btw with a CVS care card the camera is 24.99..... even the lcd monitor is color, omg i'm hackin this bad boy. i read elsewhere that the "new" model is out so if your looking read google to find the older model; there are differences. mainly the record button is larger on the hack proof model; probally not for long though, hehe.

Jeff, keep up the good work on that late apexing. Smooth first, speed will come.

I make a point to pay attention to my lines. Granted I dont know exactly what the lines should be, but the outside-inside-outside line and hitting the apex seems to make sense to me, so I'm going with that for now.

I also found a road in VT yesterday which was actually rated alot higher on the awesomeness scale because the turns were spaced similarly, but were alot tighter and the pavement was nearly flawless.

mounting the camera low on the bike (but out of harms way) is also better for the speed factor or apparent speed. i did a little test also. the wind noise is a problem; makes my bike sound like its got a sick motor.

Well technically the lines you take on the street are very different to the ones taken on the track. On the street I typically stay parallel to the centerlines & try to maintain a good sightline around the corner. I learned that lesson the hard way gettin off of Rte 3 one night... fuckin dead animals, don't they know they're not supposed to die in the road?

Left handers, yeah, I usually do the Outside-inside-outside line, but righthanders i try to stay out by the centerline untill i have a clear view around the corner

    i dunno, just a tip

that was beautiful, looks like a nice road, good lines etc. I could still hear the engine in the background with green day mixed over top, ok, i'll bite, how?
the last capture i made had wind noise, i assume thats why you have the cam behind the screen?
other interesting things to try might be following another bike and having a passenger hold the cam. i hope to put something worth seeing on line this coming weekend.

I just used Windows Movie Maker and theres a slide:

    Video audio |--------------| Music audio

I just put the slider almost all the way to the music side, so it doesnt completely mute the bike sound.
