It's YOU, Kham. You'd fall into a bed of roses and come out covered in shit. It's just your luck....![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?

I sure hope you bought "Sport Riding Techniques" too. Blows TOTW1-2 away...
nope. got "total control high performance". is this good?
3 mc books/audio.

Know nothing about it. Sounds like a good title though. TOTW1-2 are good books (I've read them cover to cover several times EDIT and I still suck...) but they are written for 1980s technology. More modern books explain ways to take advantage of more modern hardware.
you're saying TOTW1-2 dont apply to latest sportbike?

hope you'r right. got to "hardwork and persevere" but i'v lazy lately.Originally posted by Mystery Squid
Someday your luck will change Kham!![]()

The techniques apply to all bikes but they were written a long time ago and times have changed.
For example (if memory serves):TOTW recommends accelerating as soon as the bike is leaned over and maintaining the acceleration throughout the corner. Other books recommend trail braking to the apex and then using maintenance throttle to light acceleration through the corner. Trail braking to the apex was a bad idea on 1980 street tires. Not a problem today (though I don't typically do it)
Trail braking is still probably a no-no on the street, at least IMO.
Twist of the Wrist 1 and 2 are pretty heavily geared towards racing.
Kham, you probably could have skipped Twist of the Wrist 1 completely. It is very very heavily biased towards racing. It will still be helpful to know but a lot of the techniques can't be practiced anywhere but the track.

maybe i shouldn't read. it could give me the wrong idea. i have the general idea and looking for confirmation from the pro. any pros here?![]()

well it's more like getting TOTW because im curious of what the fuzz is about. alot of people says to get it. and now im hearing a conflicting info.
"fuckit!"
exactly. we're not dumb right?Originally posted by Mystery Squid
Funny, I have yet to read a single book on riding, although I did skim TOTWII, to me, it seemed more like common sense.... I go completely on "feel".![]()

Don't get me wrong, they are great books (especially number 2). Augment them with others.Originally posted by Kham

Two words, Kham: track day. You'll NEVER learn as much as you would if you participated in one. Even without instruction (just riding). There's very little arguement for this, even though Joe will start one...

In my experience. No matter how hard you push it (or think you push it) on the street be prepared to atleast double or triple those results on your first track day.
My very first track day I was posting 37's -41's I think at NHIS and yet was tearing the hell outta my tires (edge to edge). scraping pegs in every corner. (this was of course before I learned how to hang off the bike properly)
Kham.. do a track day. Like Jay says you will be amazed at what you walk a way with.. provided you walk away at all![]()
thanks.
track day coming up in August.![]()
"fuckit!"
Actually the next trackday is May 27th. Check out Tony's trackdays
Kham it will be the best money spent.
