Live to Ride - Ride to DIE

This site might have been posted on here already but i did a search and couldnt find anything.

Some pretty nasty stuff and you probably won't feel like riding in shorts and a tee shirt anytime soon.

then again, those who COULD benefit most are actually LEAST likely to get the message...
Working at a dealership, I have talked to a lot of people that have quit riding when confronted with the risks instead of taking steps to minimize risks. Weird!

reminders are fine, it's what keeps us in check... this is blatant use of scare tactics which generally does one of two things... completely turns off those who need the reminder most, or turns people into anti-motorcyclists.

I don't see this website as being remotely productive in any way, shape or form.

it's kind of like those random people that aproach you to tell you that thier mothers cousins aunts best friends brother crashed his motorcycle and was hurt or killed. as if i'm suddenly going to say "really, wow motorcycles really ARE dangerous i think i'll quit riding now". or nonriders that like to try and explain the danger to me. "you think i haven't figured it out? look at the scars bitch."

Yeah I kind of agree, the overall message might be a little overkill but i thought i was just an interesting site.

I could care less if it's actually informative for everyone.

I vote this thread of the year by the way.

    Re: Ride2die

healing is going well. so well infact that i might not need anymore surgery. the fixator was supposed to come off 2 weeks ago but it's doing such a good job they decided to forgo the surgery for now and leave it on longer. won't know if i really need more surgery or not till it comes off and i can put wieght on the foot, but things are looking good.

the biggest problem was the bone in my ankle was smashed to dust. there is nothing to screw/plate back together. doc says i maight be fine without the bone, or i might need surgery to fuse 2 bones together...again wont know till fixator is off and i can take some test steps.

maybe be back at the track in july (fingers crossed)

yeah, i don't think i'm going to get to keep any of this thing.

oh, and to get this thread sort of back on topic....

i actually think storys like mine..."fully geared rider hops away from 120mph crash and slide with just a broken foot/ankle and not one spot of road rash" does alot more for the ATGATT cause than gory pictures of smashed squids.

5 crashes at speed for me. Only one hospital visit.

(one off ramp "farming" incident, one 80mph "farming" incident, one highside, one bike-bike leading to a tire wall impact and one bike-bike to ground impact)

forgive me Pete, I come from an offroad background..what are 'farming' incidents? Like both times a farming tractor creamed you or something else?

pete gets uncontrolably excited around sheep. he tends to ride right off the road into the pasture every time he sees them.

I think the sitre could do some good. I don't agree with the site title and would change it. Then again... those that might be attracted to the "ride or die" title might be the ones that need teaching.

There IS some good info on the site that I will use in the future.
