Let me know what the dimensions are. I need outer LxWxH and then the inner box LxWxH.

Re: Anyone using Lithium Iron Battery?

I put a Battery Tender BTL09A120C LiFePO4 battery in my 500 EXC back in 2015 and it's still going strong. I also bought the lithium specific battery tender to keep it topped up over the winter.

I was amazed at how much smaller it was than the stock AGM. I've had no problems with capacity but will replace it with a larger model that fills the entire battery box when the current one eventually goes bad.

Replaced the battery in the 1975 BMW with an Antigravity AGX30.

    Weight of AGX30: 5.75 lbs

    Weight of Yuasa: 22 lbs.

Re: Anyone using Lithium Iron Battery?

How concerned should I be if my bike outputs 15.5V @5K from the R/R and Shorai says, 'must not exceed 15.2 volts at maximum output'?

The antigravity battery says, 'Over-Charge protection will not protect from a faulty/old Voltage Regulator spiking Hi-Voltages to Battery'. I suppose this is true even for a lead acid battery.

Keep in mind this would be for a track bike and probably spend a lot of it's time at high RPM. These batteries still seem like a lot of headache and money just to save 5 lbs.

Sounds 'way to high too me no matter which battery. But let's hear from someone who's not electrically challenged.

Re: Anyone using Lithium Iron Battery?

I went with a Shorai since I already have a Shorai charger. Got it from Michael Heth at Motolectric since I already have two electrical upgrades of his on the 900SS ('96 Ducati 900SS CR).

Went up on the capacity to 18AH (PbEq).

Weight of Shorai LFX18: 2 lb 5 oz

Weight of Bikemaster AGM: 12 lb 12 oz

The battery box sits high so I'm happy to save over 10 lb. Easy enough to take up the extra space with the provided foam blocks, and the cables reached just fine. Had to improvise a hold down with inner tube rubber bands and zipties for now, bearing in mind that "There's nothing as permanent as a temporary solution."

A good quality Shorai or Antigravity is pretty much the same cost as a Yuasa "standard" battery normally.

Not sure about Shorai, but Antigravity has regular sales. I've seen a replacement for my bike down as low as $150 from Antigravity (while the Yuasa replacement is $190).

Some are crazy expensive though, like EarthX (~$250-350).

Well that's not too bad at all. My rc51 battery rests on the undertail and it sags, and it is undersized. When it dies I think Ill get one of these! Thanks.

The R90/6 is a much different bike with a 16 lb weight high in the frame removed. Feels like more.

I can 3D print a spacer or box for you or anyone else easily. Few $ for material.

I need: LxWxH of stock battery and LxWxH of replacement,

As posted previously this is in my TW200. Would have been smarter and stronger to offset it to one side, but it was first try. Left the space open for tools, charger, whatever.

Going to try this today. Just went to start r1 and Shorai is flat, and tender isn't doing anything.

Re: Anyone using Lithium Iron Battery?

If you are going to send me dimensions for a custom box, use these dimension conventions. Some bikes use batteries on their sides, and connections can be on any side, so the new battery may be placed front or rear, L or R. You can use mm or in.

When I do this for myself, I draw up the shape to size, cut it out, and put it in place to see how it looks and fits.

Re: Anyone using Lithium Iron Battery?

to throw some coins, going on my fifth season with an EarthX lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery that's been used across two dirt bikes ... have never charged it, don't have a charger ... still fires the bike like it was new. well worth the price.

i had one snag a while back but Alden taught me the trick to stab the starter a time or two to 'prime' it.

Thans to Garandman for printing up this nifty spacer for my new Shorai. Now I have a little more storage space instead of a stack of foam blocks.

So biting the Bullitt and buying this Shorai LFX18A1-BS12 Hoping to cure my starting issues with my race bike. Its the biggest one that fits Seems my AGM drains down and cant spin the big pistons after a few attempts ?

I have that in my R1. Cranks it faster than any of the Yusa's I've had in it over 40k miles. And thanks to Paul, I brought it back from the dead, over winter, with his trick.

If the AGM is running out of capacity... the Lithium has WAY less amp-hours available.

Shorai has 18 hours vs 11 and 270 cranking amps vs 150

No, it doesn't. They're trying to claim "Pb Equivalent" ratings, sadly most of the LiFePO4 makers do this and it pisses me off... Figure about half to 1/3rd what they're claiming. The Lithium can pulse for higher amperage for short durations, but vs parasitic draws they go dead WAY faster than AGMs, and if you're saying your bike is just a bastard that requires lots of starter run time to light off, the Lithium likely won't cut it if the Lead of similar physical size can't. There is a slight chance the slightly higher resting voltage of the Lithium can get the bike starting easier by spinning it slightly faster? I'd be looking at the bike and trying to determine why it's such a bastard to start in the first place?
