    Fairly unbiased article

I started reading this article about motorcycle noise complaints and thought to myself, here we go again, another biased article, but I kept reading and they actually talked to people from the MMA, and came across as at the least unbiased, and at best pro-motorcycle in some ways, so dont stop reading after the first paragraph

    Re: Fairly unbiased article

interesting...seemed like a decent article for sure. My girlfriend said my bike was loud leaving for work last week when she was still in bed (I take off right near my bedroom window). I basically take off and shift into 2nd and 3rd quick in the morning but my bike can still definitely be heard easily. Meanwhile, the the dude with a harley around the corner sits there reving it trying to keep the thing running and then did a minute long burnout right infront of his house last week...that should make the neighbors psyched on bikes.

Note: I'm not trying to say harleys are the jerks, as plenty of squids go by my (side) street going like 40-50mph on sportbikes with the thing screaming in 1st or 2nd gear.

Some riders do change the factory pipes that come with their motorcycles for safety reasons, so they can be heard by other motorists on the road, Condon said. That’s not what the MMA recommends, he said.

no matter who you live next to or where you live, someones always going to have some sort of problem. if its not with your exhaust, its with something else that you do... pneumatics in the garage, excessive 'other' noise from your residence, paintballing in your back yard, people parking in the street when your driveways full. its the nature of the human being.

That area of Salem is rife with straight pipe wielding Harleys though. Ride around there on any decent night and you'll hear bunches of them.

No one changes there muffler for safety reasons, that's just the first excuse that comes to mind. And I agree it doesnt do anything safety wise.

If you want quiet go build a log cabin in the woods.

The thought of something being so damn loud and yet so slow and heavy just makes me laugh whenever I see some ass on a harley rip away from a red light.

Holy sh*t, I thought they misquoted me!! I wish less informed riders would not share my last name.

Here's what I said in an interview on NPR a few months back. I'm the last one quoteed, so listen to the whole report.:

    Re: Fairly unbiased article

The thing I liked most about the article, and the pro-motorcycle statement I made in the original post is how they did a sting at the church and caught 1 motorcycle out of 25 citations. I can tell the difference between bikes and other things, but most people probably cant, and assume its a bike. Maybe that sort of thing will make people think even a little bit.
