    The VFR lives again!

As some of you will remember, my beloved '86 VFR700 was totaled last November. I took $100 less and kept the bike, used the rest to buy a car, and the bike was shut up in the garage.
Well, I am pleased to announce that the VFR LIVES AGAIN!!! After several months of slowly replacing parts, it's finally back in working order. I'm going down to the RMV in the morning to put it back on the road. Excited is an understatement.

Grrr, the RMV and my insurance company won't play nice, so I couldn't get the VFR on the road today. Tomorrow though, tomorrow...

    Good luck man.

I dont even know what it is about the VFR, but I have such a raging hard-on for those bikes.

    I also humbly request photographs.

lol, I don't know what it is either, I love VFR's. Could be all that torque. Even by todays standards those V4's have a lot of torque. That, and the fact that they're freakin immortal. I've got a few friends who's mid-90's bikes have either blown up or are on their way out. My VFR still runs like a top, and I'm no where near nice to it. lol

I'll put some photos up, but it really doesn't look that different. I only replaced the parts that absolutely HAD to be replaced to make it road worthy. The rest of the restoration will come later, for now I just need to ride.

    Re: The VFR lives again!

I have actually never ridden one. I have a lead on a test ride of an early 90's 750. Gen 3 I guess. One of these days when the weather is nice.

The world is better with picts, even of stock-ish looking bikes.

I've read a couple very interesting rebuild/project threads on VFRworld. There is an interesting one of a guy in VT doing up a crashed 750 in RC30-esque colors... with rattle cans. Neat stuff.

    I wish I had a '91. Lucky.
Actually what I'd really like is a '92, because it's my favorite generation VFR, and 1992 is the year I was born.

Good luck with your 'new' VFR!
I have a low miles, flaming red 4th gen, '96 myself picked up a couple years ago. Still sorting things some to fit my tastes.

Just got done yesterday fabbing mounts for fork mounted Piaa dichromics and a set of Sollici euro-horns.

Buttoned everything back up and took a spin... DAMN I hate that seat, too sloped, my boys are always on the tank!
Have a used Corbin saddle in the hands of an upholsterer friend I'm waiting to get back which should solve that issue.

Here's a pic from when I first got it (click pic):

    Pics! Pics!

(And Turbo, pics of the '86 too!)

I'm working on ideas for an underseat exhaust for the '91 ....right now it has a Yoshi 4>2>1 header that I am looking at modding into 4>2>twin pipes.....only ideas at this point though..

that bike needs a left side exhaust. its much mo bettah cause it opens up the open side of the wheel making it look better and easier wheel changes. plus its gives it that RC30 look.

I've played with the idea of getting/making a 4-1 exhaust and mounting the muffler higher. If I could find a decent 4-1 setup I'd probably do it, but they're so hard to come by.
