Today started out shitty. While on 24hr duty, I get a call my buddy was just hit at the gate, and he was on his ZX636. I rush down to the gate to see him being loaded on a gurney into the ambulance. I start getting info from the 8 witnesses, 6 being gate guards and 2 people waiting to come thru the gate. All 8 said my buddy was moving with the slow flowing traffic, wearing all the DoD required PPE (personal protective equipment, long sleeves, pants, over ankle boots, reflective vest, dot lid w/ visor, gloves etc..) when all a sudden the lady in the lane to his right, cranked her car over to his lane, cutting off the van behind my friend and smacking his rear tire area with her left front bumper. His bike was knocked over and he flew into the curb lid first, she continues driving and runs over his boot or leg before the guards could react in time to stop her. Alcohol was not involved, just plain old carelessness on her part.
So, I'm writing my report (part of an additional duty I have) and the civilian safety officer asshole comes up, and without even knowing wtf happened, he starts off with "well, guess its one less out of control sport biker we have to worry about!" I about flip the fuck out, started yelling at him as I limped towards him as fast as I could (hinged knee brace on right knee) to strangle his dumbass. The guards stop me as well as the actual MP's, and then escorted me to the hospital.
Hospital had to ambulance him to the metro unit, since they aren't staffed or equipped to deal with his injuries. So far all they will say is he is in ICU, possible head trauma (gee how'd you figure that out from the cracked lid he's wearing or the statement the paramedics found him curled into the curb lid first?) and maybe neck/spinal injury, and luckily they are say his ankle is only hairline fractured, which his boots help protect him while she barely clipped his foot. Other than that no idea WTF is going on.
Civilian Safety Officer goes and makes a complaint to my Brigade Commander, which funnels down hill and I get the 3rd degree for wanting to whoop his ass for being a HD Riding Sportbikes are Bad asshole.
Hope things turn out ok. Will be waiting for updates on his condition.

I just wished car drivers had to take a special week long class on sharing the road and hazard identification like the MSF offers (and is mandatory for DoD). Fuck.
