Ya and those dirtbikes guys are all pussies!
i hate rt 17 anyway. however, i feel like this law will spread to other places too. sucks that everyone has to suffer the consequenses of a few.
thats certainly not to say i agree with it. its all about people being pissed others are having a good time. sure, i might bitch when a harley blares by, but im certainly not going to get laws changed. ghey.
This is exactly why I'm not going to touch the exhaust on the Sprint. It's really hard to see the EPA stamp though, so hopefully I won't get hassled.
i get zero enjoyment out of riding a silent, boring bike without soul. if it gets to the point where im getting tickets for riding the duc with a termi, i'll just stop riding the street. VT wont get my money to register/title the bike and inspect it every year. ill pay for track time instead.
Hey, there's a couple of pitbikes blasting a parking lot across the street right now (Weds night) and I can hear them inside my building....SO...I had to take a ride over and check it out.
They got a little SM course set up and are having fun (for now, until some Dickhead call's the cops)
Sorry, this has nothing to do with the VT law:naughty
BTW- I like VT17...but it's tough to do well 2-up with the touring bike!
Anyone know how all this noise ordinace and illegal exhaust crap can be avoided?
Just do your bike up to look exactly like a police bike would.
Can't say I blame people. obnoxiously loud bikes are fucking annoying regardless of manufacturer. I live on the north shore so I mainly hear Harelys with no baffle what so ever going full throttle 30 miles an hour and it sucks.
I expect this sort of legislation to become increasingly common... and I also don't think it'll take very long for it to include aftermarket car/truck exhausts.
Hopefully it will spur the aftermarket to build exhausts that are quiet but improve the character of the sound (example: stock F800GS exhaust is terribly tinny-sounding; an aftermarket exhaust could possibly make the sound a little more rumbly without increasing noise levels) while also weighing less than stock.

They already are. Read the article about Akropovic in the latest sport rider or cycle world (can't remember which). He talks about meeting stricter and stricter sound standards and how they addressing them for the future.
