Watch out!

    Watch out!

Probably not news to most people on these boards or any other veteran riders for that matter. But for anyone who's author newer or this is gonna be their first spring on a bike...

    WATCH OUT!!!

People on the roads are oblivious enough as is. Especially now. People have grown used to not expecting bikes on the road for about 5 months now. Yesterday I went out for a little joyride and almost got tagged twice before I even got on a main road. Cold tires, sand/salt and wet pavement from melting snow are the obvious seasonal hazards. But my god, the people...

Anyway as you venture out for your first ride be on the lookout, because it seems no one else is.

    Safe riding!

Yea hopefully anyone new is heeding the warnings about driving defensively and like you're invisible. Also(I know I'm not the only one this happens to), you'll probably be convincing yourself to ride in less than favorable conditions because you need that fix after your winter withdrawal. Please be careful.

I'm not trying to preach or sound like a dad but I know these were things I had to learn the hard way. Now I wait a little longer into the season before i use my bike as means of transportation as well as pack it up a little sooner in the season. Both my crashes were in october and attributed to cold tires(my own fault or not considering).

So if one person reads this and says "hey that's true, I didn't consider that" then I'd be happy.

Just think of it as a European road race. Catch a little air here and there!

That and the subsequent chunks of pavement missing from the plows. Haha.

    Re: Watch out!

I just got back from a little rip north of 128. Roads still have lots of sand and holes but they certainly are getting better. I ride using the invisible bike theory too.For the sand and holes I leave plenty of room between me and the car or truck in front. Helps having the extra time to adjust. And the best advice ever ride ATGATT.

You aint kidding. The last crash I had left a nice scuff on my helmet, gloves, jacket sleeve, and boots. Also made me decide to get some boots with ankle support(had sidi vertigos, lookin into vortices).
