Holes to the story.
Almost every helmet on the planet will blow apart if the visor were to open and become an "airfoil" at 120 miles per hour.
Ive accidently flipped my visor up a bit too much on a cool down lap and had it snap my head back a bit before it took the visor and its components completely off. I have not seen a helmet that has the visor locked in with any hardcore mechanism in YEARS not 4 years like 15 years.
Has anyone ever held their hand out the car window at 80 miles per hour and done the "airplane"? Of course you have. So you know how the wind reacts to your hand but how little force it takes to overcome it with moderate strength in your forearm/shoulder's rotator cuff. We aint talking about a 70+ pound torso with legs gripping a tail section or hands on the tank.
Now lets get into the idea that the visor got caught. According to her story the guy in front of her was tucking down a bit, naturaly she would follow suit as it would be uncomfortable for her to be sitting straight up as it is. With this in mind, the airstream is already extremely turbulent from rolling up the front fairing and over the dudes helmet and would easily go over her head.
Ive run the race track two up with people who havent worn a helmet but maybe a few times in their life. Ive never had a single person say anything about their helmet buffeting and Ive never felt it bouncing off my helmet from buffeting. As a matter of fact the only time Ive ever felt a helmet bounce was on the brakes as people generaly arent ready for the initial bite.
So you mean to tell me that
A) she was on the bike at 120+ mph the dude was in a tuck and so was she but magicaly a gust of wind not only caught her closed or very near closed visor but also ripped it open and lifted her head to which she launched backwards and had the ability to know better than to grasp at ANYTHING she could when she was about to bail (funnily enough I know that about 80% of all people pushed of a curb by their friend will grab at the friend for a hand hold out of pure reaction and were talking 6" curbs guys) and instead of the helmet blowing the visor completely apart, it parasailed her off the back?
BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this was the case, every helmet on the planet would be redesigned due to the severe lawsuits that would be flowing thru the AMERICAN COURT SYSTEM with all the people I know personaly whom have actually lost a visor due to something stupid like this.
We should see people flying off bikes once a week every summer.
I find this kind of shit stupid and irresponsible. She made a bullshit story up to cover the fact that the rider and her were being stupid and made a serious mistake of sorts.
I speculate that the rider was trying to throw wheelies but I may be wrong, Ill stay with that version though.
My version goes like this.
Dude tossed the front up without warning, she didnt have her hands clasped and she got tossed off the fucking bike.
