Weekend project on my new Strom

I spent a bunch of hours trying to figure out horrible instructions and eventually getting the parts installed.

The Suzuki centerstand was OK to install untill I got to the springs. Those were just a bear but now done.

The Givi/Kappa hard luggage should have been a fairly straight foward install but the directions were just plain useless. After several hours of fitting, assembly, removal and more assembly everything is finally done!

The luggage is a bit on the wide side, but very functional and there is nothing wrong with carrying capacity on trips.

There is clearly something wrong with the exhaust... it's still stock! Upgrade this ASAP.

but they're too far back... how they gonna save your plastics when they're way back there?

Hey Dave a set of car drum brake spring installers . Ive found to work good on springs.

Bend spring, insert washers/coins in bewteen coils. Attach spring, remove washers/coins.

That V-Strom resembles a certain FZ1 now...

If I look at everything I've ever owned, it's 23.

This is my first V-Twin. And first bike with EFI.

My count is 5 bikes, 3 quads. All carburated.

I guess when I finally trade up the 97 for something else, it'll be an EFI bike.

In any case, the Strom (I keep thinking that the bike's name is a misspelling) will be a nice touring ride for ya.

The one that sticks in my mind was the yellow 7/11. (It did have an 1100cc motor in it, didn't it? Or was is just a really tricked out 750?)

We've been tossing around more passenger friendly bike ideas, Big Shirl & I. Probably adding to the stable in late '07. Amongst several cruisers we've been keeping our eye on, the Strom is also high on our list of possible 2-up candidates. I'm a sucker for Suzi's L-twin, as I'm sure you already know...

I'm very interested in hearing your overall impression thus far, Dave...

I think I remember him having an FZR1000.

I had a 1986 750 with a 1052 GSXR1100 motor in it. That bike had a ton of stuff on it. It was still running around a few years ago...

Traded that for an ex-Superbike FZR750RT and another GSXR1100. Sold the GSXR and brought the FZR back to life. Sold the FZR after a few years and bought a basket 1990 FZR1000 - always loved the black/grey FZR1000.

And two Concours, a KLR650, a RF900R, a ZX-6D and on.....

I need to get it registered first! Still haven't got that done yet!

I saw a strom that looked like yours on 93N this afternoon (was it you?). Looks good in person.
