Welcome intro update (wrong forum area)

Hey my names Chris I just got my MC license through the MSF course last week. From the South Shore and *****RIDE AN 03SV650S*****

Just got it tonight bikes in my hands first bike....check

Ok so I got my bike that I had posted about with the 10,000miles on it.

My only thing is the dude i bought it from didn't have the title because he still owed money on it,so I didn't recieve the title.

I paid cash and he wrote up a bill of sales stating vin# mileage etc... gave me his registartion and a past bill already paid, also his plate, I don't believe this guy is gonna screw me or anything very nice dude.... Whats done is done but did I go about this the right way becasue I still don't have the title and he has to pay for the rest of the bike then get the title and mail it to me, signed over to me. I think i have enough proof that i bought the bike but just don't have the title (suzuki does)

    Thoughts??

This kind of deal always makes me nervous as hell, but no one I know has gotten burned this way. If he decides to book with your cash and not pay off the loan, you become the proud owner of a stolen bike. It's an unlikely scenario, but it's always in the back of my mind and I avoid the situation like the plague.

The guy would be an idiot to put a posting on a public site and then try and screw you. Afterall you have NESR posts to back up your story.

I'd contact Suzuki and stay on top of the guy to make sure you get that title ASAP.

well I hope and trust the dude gonna get me the title asap but in the mean time, I want to do all regular maintenance while I wait for the title. I want it ready to ride when I get it registered and insured, and peace of mind that all maintenance is up to date. Any suggestions on what to do?

    Lube chain(needs to be done)
    Oil change
    ???
What else cause Im new to this bike biusness and I want to do all the maintenance myself (unlike my pos car) kinda to keep me busy one of the reasons I wanted a bike.

Also I don't really know if it is or isn't but the chain feels like it has just a small amount of play in it(what do I do?)

Did the seller tell you who has the lean on the bike? You might want to call them to see if the loan has been paid and if the title has been sent out. When I bought my bike the bike had a lean and I cut the check directly to the lean holder and then cut a check to the previous owner of the difference.

Good luck hope it comes together for you

I just sold my bike that way, I had a loan on it.

The only thing I would have done differently if I were you(and this is how my buyer did it), was I would have sent a cashier's check directly to his bank for the payoff amount, then hold any additional cash you owe to the seller. I gave my buyer the bike, and he owed me money until I handed him the title...worked well all around.

Hopefully his bank is quicker than mine was, it took about 3 weeks before I got the title.

Congrats on the new bike, looks like a nice one.

I did that when I bought my Ducati a few years back.

It took over 3 months for the title to finally surface.

I'll never do it again. It wasn't the sellers fault, the loan was sold to another loan company which then changed locations and blah blah blah blah. I had a useless bike that I was making payments on for nearly 4 months.

    Good luck man.
