Rochester biker faces summons after crash, road rash
ROCHESTER — As paramedics carried city resident David Brown, 22, to the ambulance for road rash injuries, police were writing him a summons alleging reckless operation of a motor vehicle for attempting to pop a wheelie on his sports bike Thursday afternoon.
Officer Michael Mundy said three witnesses said they saw Brown attempting to do the trick on his blue Suzuki as he passed the back of the Community Center on Chestnut Hill Road Connector before he crashed around 3:30 p.m.
Sgt. Eric Dugas said Brown said he lost control of the clutch while shifting the gears.
Brown was not knocked unconscious and his bike did not sustain serious damage. He was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He faces a Sept. 11 court date for the one charge, a violation punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and, if convicted, a mandatory 60-day loss of license.
