    New wheels for my ZRX1200

Stock size up front and the rear is 6" wide instead of the stock 5.5". There's atleast .040" of clearance on the chainguard. Turn-in with a 190 on the back is pretty much the same. Front wheel is 3 lbs lighter than stock and the rear is 5-6 lbs lighter I believe.

The are forged aluminum wheels mfg by Carrozzeria. Hey Will

I payed $1k for the wheels with used Qualifiers mounted and shipped to my door.

The price included (15) titanium rotor bolts as well. I bought them from a guy on the ZRXOA who picked them up new this spring. I don't lnow what he payed. Regards, Jake

How much different is the bike to ride? I remember being told by a prominent Ducati tuner that, buck for buck, lightweight wheels were the best mod there was. Whaddya think guy?

I am very jealous. Hopefully I can find a GB soon selling the '07 set of aluminum carrozzeria (supposedly lighter than the marchesini).

number9 - I've been told the same by several riders who have purchased lighter wheels that its made a huge difference, and they would do it again.

If you look down, you go down. That may be fun at an orgy, but it sucks on a bike

    Bling ain't my thing............

The side to side transitions require considerably less effort than before due to less centifugal force to overcome. I don't have a good opinion yet overall as I'm running them with the tires that came already mounted(and flat-spotted from Ca. highway commuting). I believe they will be the cats ass though with new tires and a little warmer weather. I don't feel comfortable pushing real hard when it's 55°f outside. Regards, Jake

PS: Bling is a little ok, I guess........

That's a smokin good deal for those wheels! I put a set of Magnesium wheels on my 125 racebike this season, and the difference was noticeable. I think they are not only lighter, but stiffer than the stockers. I get better feedback from them at the limit. It is subtle though.

For the enthusiast, they are a good mod. They make your suspension work better/easier. Even the stock suspension will work better with light wheels.

Your average joe wouldn't likely know the difference as street wheels (on sportbikes at least) are getting pretty damned light.

My philosophy is that any single mod is probably not worth it. However, you can greatly improve a bike by adding up a series of mods that work together. For example, going to light wheels AND upgrading suspension components and tires to match your setup could make a VERY noticeable change. 1+1+1+1 It's a cumulative process. No easy fixes. Same goes for engine work.

    Very good point Paul!

1st off this bike stock and ready to ride is 535lbs and a pig!

I've done the racetech weight specific springs and gold valves to the forks and had Aftershocks rebuild the rear shocks. Both very noticable improvements.

Stock tires were BT-020's. That tire SUCKS period!

Another mod that showed up, as a bonus, to handling was removing the stock exhaust and replacing it with the Acro. It knocked about 30lbs off the bike right there and was immediately noticable.

The ZRX is not a sport bike by any means but set up correctly it can do ok on the street. I traded bikes with a guy on a bone stock ZRX and was amazed at the handling difference although I don't know what his suspension was set up for, if anything...... Regards, Jake

Current ready to ride weight is about 485 lbs
