    Whos ready for race season

I know im not ready for the start of the racing season up at loudon. I would say Im about 2/3 the way there. I got my bike all set up, got myself a trailer.

Im still in the market for a decent suit and helmet and have to get my trailer registered and plated.

Question for you all. This will be my first year racing and I dont have my race license or anything yet. Whats the best/fastest/cheapest way to be able to do the friday track practices.

I want to do the open sessions for 70 rather than paying 250 for the penguin school

You must do the Penguin School to get your license. Or, you may attend any other CCS approved racing school. There is no way around that.

Does it have to be a 2 day school or can it just be the one day school. I have no problem attending the race school I actually want to.

I just dont want to have to wait until the middle of the summer for the 2 day school just to get my license. If I can do the one day school and get my license that would be sweet.

yes...you take teh class then enter into the rookie race and if you finish the race you get your license...you also have to sign up and pay for atleast 1 other race that weekend....but you dont have to race in it for some reason...

So I can end up having my license by the end of the weekend on the 30th?

Then I can do the open sessions? When are they?

I think thats what they are basically I want to be able to go out and race at the track at the most cost effective price. I have heard the practice sessions cost 70 dollars. Thats a lot better than 220 or more for a track day.

Do the Penguin one day race school and a rookie race to get your license. The cost is not light. class plus 130? lisence, plus 60 dollar race, plus track entrance fee 25 bucks. Then you'll have your license.

The 70 dollar friday practice will be available to you, but it is bby no means a better deal than a trackday as far as dollar per lap goes. You get 2-4 sessions that are a max of 15 minutes each. so that's 16-32 laps for 70 bucks.

At a trackday you usually can get close to 100 laps if you can hack it. I guess it's close in terms of value, but it's not nearly as much practice on fridays.

Thursday practices (before race weekends) usually offer the best bang for the buck.
