Right there with you as well again, LOL. I also have to dress up and bring my laptop to and from work. If I had a more enjoyable commute to work I'd do it more often in a heartbeat. I used to ride to work all the time when I worked in Westwood/Canton and lived in Dedham. 10-15 min commute and I could go 4 different ways with no traffic.

Weekdays, commute is 45 min, weekend commute is sometimes up to 2 hours...

Yeah, I'm still commuting. Just leave a little later to hopefully not get stuck in traffic. (besides, sometimes I'm a squid )

Re: Who's still ridin' to work?

As long as there is no sand/salt plastering the road I am riding.

I saw 104 sitting in traffic in Quincy. WTF
27 miles 1 way from the South Shore to Medford. 30 min Morning 45 min-1.5 hours in the evening.

1 way I keep the bike cool. I by-passed the t-stat sensor (180 degrees there about)to the fan with a on/off toggle. Pick one up at Radio Shack for less than $5. When I get into traffic I flip the toggle. The bike stays about 25% cooler than letting the temp rise and fall constantly.

I don't care what anyone says. I just shot from Boston to Lawrence and back for a business meeting and I had a blast!! No traffic, and with no fairings even with my jacket on it was fine. WAAYYY better than a ride in a car would have been. Oh yeah, and the asshat who tried to race me on 93s in his BMW M6......priceless.

This is what happens when you substitute a hobby where your commute used to be. Great times!

Re: Who's still ridin' to work?

104 miles of back roads, round trip for me. Still riding, still wearing full gear, still happy. I don't really hit traffic and most of my commute is in the shade. When you factor in tires and brake pads, my AC equipped car is cheaper to operate, even though it gives up 16 MPG to the bike.

I have been riding everyday. It isn't to bad in Vermont as there is no traffic usually but if I get stuck behind someone going 40 in a 50 it can get painful.

AC failed in the Evo so I've been on the zx6r. The tires certainly come up to temp quick.

I hear you both though... I've been leaving the bike at home and driving to work more and more because of all the stuff I have to bring back and forth along with dressing up.

HAHAh minus the purse. This thread kind of rekindled my hope to find a fun route to work. I think I found one possibility but half the commute I know is going to be nonstop traffic and lights every 30 seconds. Might try it to see.

I'm in. 15 mile commute each way on shitty roads that is alot easier on my bike than in my truck. I actually have it down to a science where I can avoid 90% of the bumps! Plus I saves me money, mostly in avoiding replacing the suspension in my rig for another year

Re: Who's still ridin' to work?

I travel over two islands on my commute. Being that close to the water cools by at least 10 degrees. I also have 3 - 360 degree exits each way for the fun factor. Plus the roads on one island are narrow so the bike is better suited for the madcap traffic through there anyways. Plus I love jukin' and jivin' through the traffic. It replaces my morning coffee. 42 miles each way so I have to make it interesting somehow - am I wrong?

i have been. i love this heat. i still go out riding. the only bad thing is the traffic... im pretty much walking my bike a few miles and boy do i get cooked! but because of that im more aggressive traveling through the beach traffic down here.

I rode to town to watch the germany/spain game. It was HOT even in my tank top and shorts with no gloves! I felt nude, but kinda liberated in a way as well. Definitely imagined how nasty the road would feel if something happened though...

Did a round trip from Alton Bay (NH) to Hartford (CT) yesterday for a business meeting. It was a little toasty in full gear, but not too bad. Going through Worcester during rush hour was a little dicey.
I have to go again tomorrow. I think I'll take the scooter again...

41 miles one way, 82 round trip
I drove the cage for the super high temps. I can do 90 but draw the line at 100.
I just can't deal with getting stuck in traffic in the high temps with gear for more than a hour.

I'm going back to riding tomorrow.
