    Wife bike choices

Looking at getting a middleweight for my wife, who got her license last season and wants to take the ARC and other training. They happen to be great around-city bikes as well.

Suzuki has reintroduced the SV650 with tweaked FI, new frame. ABS model is about $7,500. Love the motor, Suzuki always seems to skimp on other bits.

The BMW F800R [Roadster] is about $10,000, has some better stuff, also has ABS and weighs almost the same.

Any other suggestions for a middleweight standard, preferably with ABS and roughly 31" seat height? Honda CB500F? Expecting to buy new.

Ducati M796 ABS Monster. Or the new M797. Monsters are great chick bikes. The Ducati Scrambler is another option.
Triumph Street Triples are good bikes. The Bonneville could work, also.
The new Yamaha FZ-07 has ABS now as well.

Yamaha or Bonneville would be my top two contenders. I don't know if the Bonnie has ABS though.

The T120 Bonneville does. I don't know about all of the different models, but at least some of them do.

I assume she'd have a say in the final choice, but looking for suggestions and finding out about what choices are out there is a perfectly good use of a forum.

What kind of riding is expected?

    Long days or quick trips?

Highway, back roads or city streets?

I've ridden the Honda 500's and liked it a lot. But for long highway I'd be looking for better wind protection?

Mostly day trips originating in Boston, but riding up to our place in NH is about 100 miles. From there, lots of two lane roads, low to moderate speeds. I was thinking a windshield would suffice.

    Re: Wife bike choices

I was doing a similar search for a younger nephew newbie rider. I thought he'd be a good fit for a CB500X but then I found a super deal on a brand new 14 leftover V-Strom 650 Adventure so he wound up with that.

Bmw f700gs, my wife has one and absolutely loves it. She's 5'3 and fits on it very well. Plenty of power, and very comfortable for all day riding. It's her second adv/touring bike, she's had Ducati monsters and sportclassic previously. She had a Honda nc700 x, she liked it, until she rode that bmw.

Wow...I thought this was a thread about choosing between your wife and a bike! (I'm gonna miss you honey...!)

I think the Ducati Monster is a great choice.
