Winter Project

Here is my Tail Modification that I did between last week and this week.

I put a 2003 R1 solo tail on my 1988 FZR1000. It is pretty cool

This is what my bike looked like originally

This is with the fairings removed

Then I cut the subframe

Then I took the subframe off to grind down some old mounts and paint it

Here is Jello with the subframe back on

Here is the new tail on but all the new brackets are not in place

Here is a picture of the undertail, I made it out of Carbon Fibre sheet. It looks better in person.

Not bad not bad, it needs a little chain lube though.....

Everyone keeps telling me about the chain! The rust makes it faster!

True, sooner than later that chain will lighten your tranny case in a major way!

Never, I keep my chain somewhat maintained.

That chain is fine it just looks rusty. I will probably go riding tomorrow afternoon and it will look all shiney again

No I ride with other tires and just put those on for pictures.

Alright, fair enough. Now if you said "I never oiled my chain" I would get all hot and bothered. I get soooo bothered by dry chains, it turns me into a monster.

I've been known to oil other people's chains on rides.

your tires don't look like they have a lot of tread, maybe the angle of the photo

Well you guys both said "tires" but I do not think you can even see the front. Anyway, I hate the rear tire but it has not hit its wear limit.

Wow, that's quite the machine. Don't take offense at those chain comments. While you're right, those 530 chains are pretty tough,
the bike is capable of breaking it when it's compromised by rust. I've witnessed enough thrown chains to know you don't want it to happen.

It's worth 100 bucks to prevent hole-ing your motor and possibly killing yourself in the process. They're just lookin out for ya.

Well no offence but I do not need people I do not know looking out for me. People in this country are very opinionated and each and every one is sure they are correct. I still cannot figure out how that works

LOL, You're probably right about that! Where do you ride? You should sign up for a trackday with www.tonystrackdays.com and meet some of the people here. Then they can set you straight about chain maintainance without starting a flame war
