    Cool New winter toy

So, the off season just got a little shorter. After making one visit to the lake last year to see some of the LRRS crew riding dirt bikes on the ice, I knew I wanted to try it this year. My plan was to beg/borrow/steal/bribe my way onto everyone else's ice bikes, because the cost barrier of buying a dirt bike and setting it up to ride on the were a bit higher than I could swallow for the short winter season.

That all changed when Steph("The Enabler") found an already set up ice bike for sale at a good price...but a bit more than she wanted to spend(probably for similar reasons I mentioned above) on an unknown. Well, half the purchase price is a much more palatable amount to try it out, and since ice riding is basically like a trackday(in that you're "circling" the same course over and over) and it's usually cold enough that you need a break periodically anyway...it's doable to split a bike with someone(hopefully?!).

So after some conversations with the seller about the condition, we decided to go look at it, and pick it up barring any issues. Bill Cool was kinda enough to loan his trailer, and when we got to the bike is was clear the seller really was selling it to make space in the garage(and maybe make his wife happy by saying he sold one bike). Guy was a straight up ice racer, doing flat track style stuff on ice at different club races all winter, plus had a handful of MX bikes. The bike came with some spares; including a Honda OEM piston and rings, a spare spiked rear tire, a spare front wheel with a flat track tire, and a few spare rear tires for dirt flat track.

All in all...it's gonna be a pretty...interesting ride this winter.

I expect I'll have this look on my face under the helmet often

Since the bike was less than 1/2 hour from The Butler's, we stopped in for lunch. Here you can see Adam giving Steph advice on starting the 2 stroke

Randomly funny sticker on the fender(it's not what I thought at first, it's actually a pickle company)

Oh yeah, Emily was nice enough to let me play with her new puppy, and I didn't even make an attempt to steal her

So, after some delicious mac & cheese, some catching up, we hauled ass back to CT. Tonight I unloaded the CR to it's current resting place, where it'll sit until the temps drop enough to get some frozen lakes!

Good times. Been thinking about swapping the ice stuff over to my bike recently. Hopefully this year I'll have two good feet.

As long as we're on clashing numbers... Those on the front of your new ice bike clash with those on the sides...

I suck too much to clash.

We've discussed numbers at length. We're each taking one side, and having a dance battle to determine who gets the front plate.

Can't. Gotta keep my sweet moves semi-secret, for the inevitable dance battles during LRRS events.

No way. The expansion chamber on the 500 is three miles long.
