    Bike cover advice anyone ?

Well, for the first time ever, I have to keep my bike outside of a garage. (because I'm in the middle of moving)
I am thinking that I should pick up a cover to use from now until the snow flys. (I will put the bike in storage during winter)
Does anyone have any advice ? I found lots of different styles online. Some have heat panels so the muffler doesn't melt the cover. Do those actually work ? Any recommendations on what cover material to use ?
Any good or bad experiences ?

I use a Dowco Guardian. Has worked well for three years so far.

Don't put the cover on until it is at least cool enough to touch. Panels or not, it's just not a good practice to get into.

I appreciate the offer man...I really do...but it would add about 20-30 minutes to my already too-long commute in the morning and at night. I'd have to drive my cage over to your house every morning, get the bike, ride to work, go back to your place each evening, etc, etc. If I was only riding on the weekends, your offer would be awesome, but I try to ride to work most every day, so convenience is a big part of it.

Ya know, I have very similar thoughts about my girlfriend. It's ALL about the convenience

When looking for a cover you want to make sure it is water proof, not water resistant. I think the covers with the vent flap near the top is pretty useless and just gives the rain and other element a place to get in, there is plenty of venting at the bottom of the cover. And stick with a heavy material as you are not too worried about transporting the cover with you on your rides. As for the heat flaps on covers they do help but as said before you still want the bike to cool down a bit before puttin git on just for a piece of mind.

    Fair enough, Gordo...

When I DO have the need for a cover, I have a Nelson Riggs that I've had for YEARS. Nothing fancy, but DEFINITELY water proof. Has a coupla metal grommets to use a lock/chain/bungies, etc...

It was short change, and it's lasted at least 10 years now. You're welcome to come 'try 'er on' if you'd like to see how it fits...

Thanks for the offers Jay and Ryan...but I stopped by Rochester Motorsports last night on the way home just to see what they had in stock. It just so happened that they had a nice heavy duty one that is put out by Parts Unlimited. (probably just a rebadge from another brand ) It was nice and they gave me 10% off, so the price was competitive with online places. Impulse buy...but I'm happy with it.
