    wireless accuweather

Has anyone signed up and tried

    the wireless cell phone accuweather

it includes moving radar images so it is something I have always been looking for

I always wanted to see dark clouds see if they are rain and if so see where they are heading and go the other way

In houston you could see a T storm 20 miles away and just drive around them

Nope, but I'm with ya. We sit at NHIS wondering if we need to swap out for rain tires. The wrong decision will cost you the race.

My cell phone is supposed to have that capability, you can get the internet, just go to the weather channel site. I've never done it though.

I have accuweather on my phone, I have used it for about 2 years now. It is awesome, type in your zip code you have radar and satellite maps, current conditions and 10 day forecast to plan next weekend's skiing or riding trip.

I've done it a lot. I have Verizon, it is $5/month extra for the basic internet. You can't browse the entire web or hook it to your PC but you can access weather.com, traffic info, stock tickers, etc..

    OK so help

first they talk of "Bern" a what ?

2nd it seems to be a seperate deal then the internet per se

my Verizon office has no idea about extra phone features they only can read the brochure for you.

I would be concerned about if you have to know the ZIPCOde of where you are. I assume you might guess effectively with a little map.

is this accuweather thing seperate from that really annoying and hard to use phone web browser?

I would be interested in something like that if it were easy and convenient to use, but if i have to navigate to some web page using my phone... they can keep it.

    just look up www.accuweather.com

then poke around and look for wireless. I think it "portals" like the internet but believe it to be a seperate service.

We may end up stuck with 2 costs though

Yes it is a part of Get It Now

It is extremely easy to use. And because I dont pay to use it, I would highly recommend it!

I have a samsung a530 and just downloaded etc as they said and then activated the 1 day free trial.

It work well enough for me to buy around riding season especially the day before a big iffy weather ride.

I pulled up a regional weather radar map very quickly but did not see moving image that would be needed for bike avoidance.

It is 2.95 a month plus air time. I think that is all unless there is special ticking for get it now

I usually ride to meet a front then reverse and skeedaddle back home before I get wet.

    I have always said

"I may come home in the rain but I never leave in the rain"

    I just tried it too.

I don't think it is worth it over the weather.com free wireless app that you can access with the regular data plan. The only thing it adds is the weather maps, and realistically, how much is a weather map on a teeny little cell phone screen worth?

Get It Now is a rip-off IMO. I wish Verizon would get on with it and just ship phones that let you browse wherever you want to go.

You can have moving maps with it, hit ok when oyu have a picture of the radar screen and then select play.

Get it now is a rip off, you need a cord for your computer so you can download apps for free to your phone.

There is a ZOOM feature that should give the weather map sufficient detail for me.

My Samsung and I have the computer cord but other than getting phone out of outlook it doesn't seem to do anything.

I wanted to put pics on the phone but they babbled about simply put the images in a pics internet data base and down load a viewer then download the pics then create an icon and .....

I took a pill and layed down and needless to say there are no pics on my phone

I agree it is a rip off but you don't need to connect the phone to your computer.

You download the apps over the air.

I know this, but if you get the cord, get a few programs from various cell phone forums, you can download the trials of GIN applications, edit some of the files, and then they become the full version for free!
