Just witnessed a gnarly bike crash..pretty sure the dude is dead

My warehouse is right on Route 1 near the MOMS Dealership...I was in the garage and heard a huge crash which I was 100% certain was two cars from the sound of it. I go to the end of my driveway and sure enough some dude is laying right there on the ground not moving...had his helmet on and then I see his bike further down the road (some kind of Harley or chopper). Out of respect I wont say what I saw next but I'd be surprised if this dude survived

I am sure you guys are familiar with how dangerous of an area that is. Four lanes of 55mph+ traffic with inattentive people trying to turn left and right into Dunkin and shit....be careful out there

Here is a picture of both the bike and the car involved getting towed:

The bike hit the car in the rear somehow. Rear bumper was pretty mangled but it didn't look so bad that the car was totaled (or worthy of a tow).

    cleanup in aisle 3.

shitty situation all around. best wishes to all, of course. I drive by there semi-regularly, and I always wonder how they let noobs do/not do test rides out of that shop.
    once again, best wishes.

Purely speculation, but car may have pulled out in front of them with just enough time to get fully in to the road way as the bike makes impact?

Whatever the cause or fault, I hate urban sprawl roads like that area. Make me nervous. Too many ways for people to enter my path, and so many areas/vehicles to be mentally tracking.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was heading north on Route 1 when it took a left turn to enter a parking lot. A 2009 Harley Davidson Road King was traveling south on Route 1 in the right travel lane and struck the rear right side of the car.

Driver was a 20 year old girl.

The report states that the rider was killed. It is always sad to see this happen and much more so when there is a loss of life.

Second, the famous Hurt report identified the left turn in front of the rider as a primary danger zone.

My idle speculation is not early enough identification of the possible threat and or not enough time to brake or room to swerve and avoid

Sadly, this is an amazingly typical accident scenario.

Was the driver cited at the scene for any violation?

Don't you deal with that stuff on a regular basis Chip? How do you deal with it? I was in close proximity to a car vs tri axle dump truck accident last week and choose not to proceed closer for that reason. Other people were on scene already so I didn't feel I could offer anything to the situation.

A: I'm totally desensitized to it.
B: it's not my emergency, unless/even if I know someone involved.
C: I can only do what I can do.

So as long as I know I did what I'm supposed to/the right thing, I'm good.
HOWEVER, I'm sure you'll see ptsd become a more prevalent thing in the lifespan of what's left of my career, because as I indicated you can't unsee stuff. I'm lucky enough to not really have anything that "haunts" me, but I can see plain as day, a number of unique pictures/smells/sounds if I even so much as blink.

Well put, Chipparoo. You're not my only friend that has a career such as this and I have nothing but a metric fuckton of respect for what you guys and girls do on a daily basis when you're on the job. Makes me proud to call you guys friends.

Recently was first on seen to a fatal motorcycle accident. An army medic eventually came and helped take some form of control, but we had been administering whatever we could do for 10 minutes at that point. He went out of his way to gave us the same advise as Chip jut did. I'll say that really helped. I have a feeling we would have bottled everything up otherwise, thinking it was the right thing to do. I'm sleeping fine, and not feeling bad about it.
