Wr250r any good as a sumo?

I have an offer to trade one of my bikes for a wr250. I actually have 2 offers, 1 is for for an f variant and the other is for a titled R version. Are they decent bikes? Would it be any fun on a track day? I know literally nothing about these bikes. I guess I could try to sell it if I don't like it. Prices seem to be all over the place on Craigslist though so I'm not sure if they are dreams or this bike has a good demand base.

The 250r has killer demand. They're fantastic bikes as dual sport. For a track day that depends on your version of fun. Some guys like ripping on 125's, some are power whores.

A friend had the WR250X. He tracked it but it topped out around 80 on Loudon straight but he did get around some guys in the corners pretty easily.

    Without knowing the years...

    2013 WR250F - 260lbs, 5 speed, carb'd still, basically a detuned 2013 YZ250F with full lighting/etc + electric start for a 25lb weight penalty
2013 WR250R - 300lbs, 6 speed, lower compression, less suspension travel, interestingly noticeably shorter wheelbase

You could race them both outside of LRRS, I'd steer you towards the 250F for that. For street duty I'd steer you towards the R. For track days at NHMS both would work, and both will be like running a CBR250R there, roll speed is your friend, power on the straights will be your kryptonite.

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up taking cash. I wasn't sure if I could sell the wr for as much as I got.
