    Yamaha RD350/400

Anyone own and ride one of these anymore. I saw a 350 in Wakefield NH last year and it sounded awesome. I miss mine but then again I was 16 or 17. the sound of those Bassani chambers lives in my heart. My buds had 400's and some H-1 H-2's and 1 CBX

Me 2. I went looking for one or a RZ500 and ended up buying a brand new Tuono factory. I think I blew the budget on that one. anyway if I find one and I have a fistful of dollars i will buy one.

    Wirelessly posted (HTC EVO "DROID" : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

The service writer at Rochester motorsports has a yamaha 350 2 stroke that he rides on the street. Could be a RD. It's really nice. He's got a cbr 600rr upper on it.

    Re: Yamaha RD350/400

I have got an rd400 and love it. It is all stock except for lower handlebars and is really a blast to ride. Super light, surprisingly strong brakes and lots of torque with a snappy 2t mid range. For a 400.

The ride is super cushy too and the bike sounds like nothing on the road. I could go on...

If you are thinking about one go for it - you will not be sorry. You can still get a decent one for < $2000.

Mine of course. They're actually Moto-Carrera, nicely made set-up, but getting harder to find since they went out of business. The owner did a special Christmas run of them last year and I bought them. If you look on
2strokeworld.com classifieds, there's a guy (vintage smoke) who just came out with his own version that looks really nice, even better in some ways.

I have a buddy (well one in particular) who is mental over his two strokes. Been building an rz350 for two years or so at this point....has an over 130 page build thread with over 150k views on it. One of the most detail oriented (read, CRAZY) people I know. He is machining and reproducing about every bit of the bike to make it as light weight as possible. Custom titanium bolts and shit?! :nuts Check it out if you guys are into those bikes. Careful, you'll get sucked into that thread for sure!

Sheppo, not sure if I mentioned this before but Vintage smoke also makes a nice Dyna ignition for the rd.

I have an RZ waiting for a rebuild, runs OK but needs some TLC! Had the full compliment back in the UK in the 80's and couldn't resist this one when I saw it on CL.

If anyone has a RZ350 frame they want to get rid of, let me know. I need to replace a bent one on my racebike project.

    Re: Yamaha RD350/400

Geeze, that guy might well be certifiable. No RD/RZ is worthy of THAT level of attention or investment IMO. Just get a desmosedici for less money and actually ride the thing!
